"You cannot change anyone but yourself."
When people don't live up to your expectations, it's not unusual to feel responsible for changing their behavior, especially if they are close to you. You may try and try – but when you don't succeed, you end up feeling depressed and like a failure.
Changing another person can be a frustrating, impossible goal. Realize that people only change when they want to. Changing someone else is not your job!
When you put yourself in the position of controlling the uncontrollable you place a heavy burden on yourself. Not only do you feel weighted down, but you use up tremendous amounts of energy in this pursuit.
Instead, channel your focus toward things that you can control, such as yourself. It's a much more peaceful and productive way to live.
©Jane PowellTake nothing for granted: watch water flow, the corn grow, the leaves blow, your neighbors mow.Set your own pace. When someone is pushing you,it is okay to tell them they're pushing.Remember a happy, peaceful time in your past.Rest there. Each moment has a richness that takes a lifetime to savor.Taste your food.God gave it to delight as well as to nourish.Notice the sun and the moon as they rise and set. They are remarkable for their steady pattern of movement, not their speed.Talk and play with children. It will bring out the unhurriedlittle person inside you. When you walk with someone, don't think about whatyou'll say next.Thoughts will spring up naturally if you let them.Quit planning how you are going to use what you know, learn or possess.God's gifts just are; be grateful and their purpose will be clear.Allow yourself time to be lazy and unproductive.Rest isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.Listen to the wind blow.It carries a message of yesterdayand tomorrow, and now.Now counts.Create a place in your home, at your work, in your heart, where you can go for quiet and recollection. Thanks Marcella
You cannot lose
You cannot lose because you already are. Many of those things that seem like needs, are nothing more than comfortable habits.
Abundance is a beautiful and limitless blessing. Yet when you impose needs on that abundance, you make it into a burden.
If you worry about what you will lose, the worry itself creates the loss. Rather than being so worried about losing it, put your thoughts and energy into using it.
When you feel the worry beginning to take hold, make the choice to overwhelm that worry with gratitude. When your thinking gets bogged down with needs, open yourself to more positive possibilities.
Instead of needing to prove you're right, choose to be lovingly and generously truthful. Instead of needing vengeance, choose the freedom of forgiveness.
You cannot lose what really matters. Because what really matters is the value that continues to flow from the beautiful, unique person you are.
