New at This Year's Poets Forum... Please join us at the seventh annual Poets Forum from October 24 to October 26. Each year at Poets Forum, poets and poetry lovers from around the world come together to celebrate and explore contemporary poetry. What can you expect at this year's Poets Forum? - Academy Chancellors, some of the most distinguished poets of our time, will discuss topics such as "The Art of Teaching Poetry," "Contemporary Practices of Ecopoetics," and "American Poets Abroad." They'll also unite one stage to read their poetry.
- Award-winning poet and human rights advocate Carolyn Forché will deliver the annual Blaney Lecture.
-
Kevin Larimer, editor in chief of Poets & Writers Magazine, will provide best practices for submitting poems to literary magazines and presses, and answer questions about how to navigate the publishing process. - All-Events passholders can follow in the footsteps of Herman Melville and W. H. Auden on new poet-led literary walking tours throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Calling All U.S. Poets! Join us in celebrating Ireland's Poetry Project, which pairs contemporary Irish poetry with video art, by writing a poem in response to one of the poetry videos. Poems can be as long or as short as you like. Submit your poem to poetry_po@thepoetryproject.ie before September 16, 2013 for a chance to receive a signed, limited edition artist's print from Poppy Hunt's video "The Long Lane," and a copy of Theo Dorgan's poem "Wild Orchids, Wild Flowers," handwritten and signed by the poet. Winning poems will be announced by the end of September and will be featured on Ireland's Poetry Project website, and shared by the Academy of American Poets. |
