We started off living in caves and seem to have come back to the same point. This is because we've finally realized that it's actually a very eco-friendly way to live. However, building a house underground is not an easy task and things are bound to get complicated. These 10 underground homes are so fabulous that it'll make you want to build your own underground abode! 1) Flower Petals Located in Bolton, UK this house belongs to British football star Gary Neville. It is hidden under the ground except for the petal-shaped openings designed to allow the light to enter and light up the entire house. It is sprawled across 8,000 sq ft and was designed by Make Architects to keep energy consumption to a minimum. This unique house has been designed by the architects of SeArch, Netherlands and Christian Muller. It is located in the Swiss village of Vals and is hidden on all sides save for one. This magnificent structure has been planned in such a way that it completely eliminates the need of cooling in summers and heating in winters. This house looks like its stepped straight out of a fairytale. The Swiss estate actually consists of 9 houses connected by stairs that lead down to a basement and even a parking lot. Designed by Vetsch Architektur, this house uses the ground as insulation and this is protected from rain, natural abrasion, wind and extreme temperatures. Carved out of a mountain, this house is located in Festus, Missouri. It is the brainchild of Curt and Deborah Sleeper and has been used for many different purposes over time. This 15,000 square foot residence was originally used as a mine for decades. It was also used as concert venue and a roller skating rink. The cave house needs no air conditioning or a furnace for cooling and heating the house due to its intelligent design and geothermal heating. Designed by Deca Architecture, this underground house has been made only from natural materials. It has been carved in such a way that only the second story is visible above the ground. It has been specially designed to withstand that windy weather of the Aegean Sea. The Stone desert home is built in such a way that it looks more like a half-buried ruin that a modern home. Designed by Deca, this eco-friendly house is built between the slopes of two adjacent hillsides and barely rises above the dessert level surrounding it. As the house is half-hidden in the earth, it utilizes natural light and heat as well as cooling cross-winds. This house has been given the nickname of 'Teletubby house' because of its turf roof, steel chimney and peephole doorway. It has been phrased as the 'blueprint for the future of Welsh Housing' and is considered as one of Wales architectural masterpieces. The interior of the house is very simple, with only one room inside which is divided by prefabricated colored pods. Sited in the steep sand hill in North Norfolk Coast, this house is a home of the future. It is eco-friendly, easy to heat and cool and also has a unique rain water harvesting system. The main focal point of the design is the 'sun' even though most of the house is underground. It was built to maximize exposure to sunlight and thus the house has plenty of sunlight during the winters too. These cave dwellings are 700 years old and are carved out of natural volcanic rock formations. They're situated at the base of Mt.Sahand, Iran. As these apartments are very old, they have all been renovated and have all the modern necessities of home. This underground house from KWK Promes has been designed in such a way that only the residents of the house can access its roofs, via a set of stairs inside the house. It has been built keeping modernistic elements in mind and is a perfect blend of indoor and outdoor features for its residents. | [Fropki] The Ripple Effect and Our Lives Posted: 05 May 2014 06:45 AM PDT You may also like: The Man In Trouble  When you throw a stone into a pond, you'll see a splash and hear a specific sound generated by the touch of stone with the water. You will notice circles rippling out from the point where stone hit the water. The stone touched the water only once however the number of waves was more than that. Did you also noticed that you did one simple act of throwing a stone but it resulted in several waves generation in all directions traveling to a large distance? This is what we call Ripple Effect.If you closely observe your day to day life, you will notice that most of your acts are generating ripples in the society since a lot of people are getting affected either positively or negatively. If you are doing a positive act, the ripple effect is going to be positive. For example, if you help your friend or colleague, there is a most likely chance that he will help you and others when he finds you or others in any crisis. Hence I believe that positive acts result in positive ripples and negative effects generate negative ripples. Since this article is going to be read by all kind of intellectuals so I will summarize some basic example of positive and negative ripples. 1- When you share some inspiring article/video/story with your friends through email, Facebook, Google Plus, blog, website or any other online media, it will have a positive impact on hundreds of lives; Just to elaborate, if you have sent this article by email to 100 friends and only 20 of those share the same information with their colleagues/friends then this article will reach and inspire another 20*100 = 2000 people. This won't stop here since these 2000 people are going to share that with another thousands of people so the article consequently touches millions! 2- When you work on some humanity service project (for example, giving some money for charity on monthly basis, opening an orphan house, installing water tanks in areas where water is not available to drink, visiting hospitals to help poor people etc) you are generating an unstoppable ripple effect. Hundreds of people will get inspired by you and start doing the same (more or less) acts. 3- When you want to show your driving 'skills' and 'thrills' by wreckless or speedy driving while your friends or family members are with you, you are encouraging them to do the same when they are given a chance. These friends will probably do the same and encourage more people for this bad act. Down the road in 6 month you might become the root cause of rash driving for 100+ people or more! Conclusion: Positive Acts of kindness can bring magical results on earth. Everyone need to understand the concept that all of his/her acts are generating ripples in the society which are either improving or polluting the society. Do you audit yourself on how much pollution or prosperity you are contributing to the society? This paragraph is for the faiths who believe in life & audit after death: Always remember that dollars, pounds or euros won't help you on the day of Judgment, the thing which will help you is your acts of kindness and their usage by the society. If you inspire and convince more and more people for any good deed (by your words or by doing the task actually) you are basically ensuring your share in the goog doing which they other are going to do (while their share will not be impacted).
