About This Poem
“Burial” by Robert McAlmon first appeared in McAlmon’s first collection, Explorations (1921).
Robert McAlmon, a novelist, publisher, and Modernist poet, was born in Clifton, Kansas, in 1895. McAlmon founded the magazine Contract with poet William Carlos Williams. The magazine featured poetry by Ezra Pound, Wallace Stevens, and other Modernist poets. He died in 1956.
