Ella Wheeler Wilcox was born in Johnstown, Wisconsin, in 1850. A popular poet, Wilcox often wrote in plain, rhyming verse. She wrote many books of poetry including, A Woman of the World (1904) and Poems of Experience (1910), before her death in 1919.
