If you're skeptical of that, go ahead and Google it. Before we could privately (to some extent) type our queries into a search engine, people would have to go to the library to do research. (Remember those?) Some people, however, simply didn't have time for research, so they'd ask librarians to find out for them. This is quite exciting however during the same period of time, people have increased their love for materialistic things abruptly which has directly or indirectly reduced their overall happiness index. Now a days, we have more luxuries but less delights and high stress levels. We have more sugar, blood and heart patients then it used to be a decade back. The reason for all the stress and anxiety is simple that we are not living a simple life.   Below are some tips which can simplify your life and may amplify the happiness scale of your life.   1- Avoid getting influenced: You don't have to follow every single trend in society. If your friend has purchased a new BMW, you don't need to buy a Mercedes to impress. Live for yourself not for others. If you purchase a high-end luxury car today, your love for this will end soon and you will be selling it at considerable financial loss though I am not forbidding to purchase luxury things once in a considerable duration of time.   2- Avoid impulse buying: You don't need to buy every single gadget instantly which you like in this shop. Do your Needs Vs Wants analysis. Buy only if it is really increasing your peace of mind. Remember that now a days the standard life of every gadget (phone, tablet, laptop, jewelry etc) is more or less 6 months because of new and new products release by several companies.   3- The 6 months Rule: Generally speaking, anything which has not been used in last 6 months will not be used in next 6 months most likely. Give such things (shoes, garments, toys, mobiles, house hold items) in charity. This will help spreading happiness in society and reducing your space at home.   4- Avoid Credit Cards Usage: Avoid this as much as you can. Debt is a silent stress and eating up your mental health slowly. Your brain might get old while you are young at heart. You might develop high BP or sugar because of stress due to credit. Live a credit-free life.   5- Learn to say No: Don't accept every single attractive offer from the bank representative or a car loan company. Do your "Needs Vs Wants" analysis. Careful spending is always recommended.   6- Reduce too much social gatherings: Stay at home. Spend quality time with your spouse and kids for empowered relationships. You don't have to say yes every time to your friend who is coming to pick you from home to join another late night social get together.   7- Reduce your love for money: Careful spending and saving is important but don't allow your brain to keep doing the calculations all day long. You love for money is pulling your brain strings and damaging your peace of mind silently. Stay away from too much thoughts about your financials.   8- Less TV more Books: It is proven that people who watch more movies generate high level of stress. Read quality books to learn wisdom and attain high degree of happiness.   9- Spend time with Nature: Instead of going to cinemas and malls repeatedly, spend time in parks. This will relax your brain, body and soul.   10- Change your eating habits: why eating lavish foods by visiting costly restaurants again and again in a week. The purpose of food is to fill your belly for some hours. So the suggestion here is to go for simpler and healthier food. Remember, most of the food items in the market are fried which are increasing your cholesterol level silently hence making you a heart patient in the long run! But that doesn't mean it can always be the wisest. You've just gotten engaged or are going to get engaged and all the excitement in the air is just getting to you. Relax! Sit down, grab a glass of water and ask yourself some questions that only your honest soul can answer. 1. Are you being pressurized into this? Social pressure and the fantasy of a beautiful Bollywood wedding are some reasons you want to get married. Admit it! The excitement gets to you doesn't it? Or is it just that annoying aunt who can't live (or die) in peace without parading rishtas on your face. Some people see it as the next logical step after they have been in a relationship for a long time or have witnessed the wedding of a sibling or close friend. Ask yourself why you really need to be married, just to be sure you're not fooling yourself. 2. How well do you know yourself? Finding the right person is one thing, but are you the right person? If you are convinced that he's too good for you, better back out now before your self confidence seeps through the floor. He's lucky to have you, just as you are to have him. 3. You have been together for more than 3 years, what next? What do you want together? Kids, family planning, adapting to each others lifestyles are just some of the answers you might be thinking of. As a couple, do your answers clash? Taking a break from it all can be an effective temporary solution. 4. What is the sex like? No need to be a prude and no need to be overly graphic! You're asking yourself this question to know if bedtime in your wedded bliss is truly any bliss at all. Sex is at it's best in the early stages of marriage and tends to die out the more you stick to your comfort zone. Get naughty and adventurous if you want to keep the heat in the bedroom alive after you exchange vows! Although sex may not be a deal breaker for some couples, you should be alright with it when it begins to wane. 5. Living with in-laws Most guys in India live with their parents or worse, in joint families. Not only are you marrying him, you are marrying his parents (and in some cases his aunts, uncles and siblings). Are you willing to take  responsibility for everyone? Living with the in-laws requires patience as their values may be different from yours. Watch the movie Monster-in-law or better yet ask mommy dearest (kyu ki maa bhi kabhi bahu thi), it makes you realise that men have it easy in the marriage equation. 6. Is he willing to accept you for who you are? We are all unique in our own ways and sometimes they are unacceptable to others. Is your fiancee willing to overlook your flaws unconditionally or does he want you to change your personality so that you may be perceived as more acceptable as a bride? If he wants you to look like Katrina Kaif and cook like Tarla Dalal (all with your mouth shut) bring him down to Earth with OTS (one tight slap) 7. How bad are your fights? Are your arguments and squabbles ended with peaceful and constructive solutions? If not, they will only get worse after the wedding. You wouldn't want to spend your honeymoon in two opposite ends of the room. 8. Are you willing to put him before yourself? Marriage means the kingpin of your world is not just yours anymore. You have to share it with him and his immediate family. Urrrr.... whutt? Being able to sacrifice for others is probably the hardest thing in this world. Not being able to is not a bad thing, it gives to an opportunity to rethink your decision to marry and strengthen your love. 9. You said yes. Wishing you thought it through first? Don't worry about insecurities that are in your head, this always happens you get married. Pre-wedding jitters make you say "Oh my god I'm terrified" (in Hindi or something of that sort) but if your only thought is "this doesn't feel right", it's probably the best to raise the white flag before shit gets serious. 10. Will he support your dreams? Marriage is not a union of suppressing a woman's freedom and surely it's not the end of your aspirations. If this is not what your man thinks, perhaps your dreams matter more. Go get that PhD you always wanted or travel the world! And they flew down a mightier force at night, As though in heaven there was revolt and riot, And they, frail things had taken panic flight Down to the calm earth seeking peace and quiet. I went to bed and rose at early dawn To see them huddled together in a heap, Each merged into the other upon the lawn, Worn out by the sharp struggle, fast asleep. The sun shone brightly on them half the day, By night they stealthily had stol’n away.                                            II.   And suddenly my thoughts then turned to you Who came to me upon a winter’s night, When snow-sprites round my attic window flew, Your hair disheveled, eyes aglow with light. My heart was like the weather when you came, The wanton winds were blowing loud and long; But you, with joy and passion all aflame, You danced and sang a lilting summer song. I made room for you in my little bed, Took covers from the closet fresh and warm, A downfall pillow for your scented head, And lay down with you resting in my arm. You went with Dawn. You left me ere the day, The lonely actor of a dreamy play.            This poem is in the public domain. Over the next few years they return every year, and the same thing, Stumpy wants to ride, but Martha says no money. Finally, when Stumpy and Martha are both about 70 years old, Stumpy looks to Martha, and says, "Martha, I'm 70 now, and I don't know if I'll ever get the chance again, so I just have to have a ride in that there airplane."  Martha replies in the same old fashion, and Stumpy kind of slumps down.  The pilot is standing near by and overhears the conversation... The pilot pipes up, "Excuse me folks, I couldn't help but hear your situation, and I have a deal for you.  I'll take both of you up together, and if you can both make the entire trip without saying a word, or even making the slightest sound, I'll give the ride for free.  But if either of you make a sound, its $10 each." Well, Martha and Stumpy look at each other, and agree to take the ride. The pilot takes them up, and starts to do loop de loops, twists, dives, climbs and spins.  No sound. The pilot lands the plane, looks back at Stumpy and says, "Sir, I have to hand it to ya, you didn't make even the slightest sound and that was my best stuff."  Stumpy looks back at the pilot and says, "Well, I was gonna say something when Martha fell out, but $10 is $10!" In order to help the injured eye develop correctly, she has to wear the patch over her strong eye for 2 hours everyday. The patching at this early age prevents ambylopia or the lazy eye disorder, where the vision in one eye does not fully develop during childhood.   As her father comments, Layla gets irritated quite easily while wearing the eyepatch, so it's not that easy how it may look.   We can just hope that this little girl's eye will get better soon. The horse of the prickly thin storm about to be, of the cool cottons of the hotel bed and his beautiful body, golden, lean, and the horse of having been so close, and then changing his mind. My Daily Yoga Practice In Unusual Places   Infusing poses into my daily routine and life provides an avenue to be more aware of every moment of my day and value the fleeting nature of our existence.   The environment I find myself in informs what posture to take so I can sync up my body with the space, finding harmony with my surroundings. Pairing daily acts of yoga with my love for photography has created a diary effect. But there's no saying YOU can't be kind. And what better time than Christmas? Take a look at 12 things you can do this Christmas to make the world a nicer place. 1. It's always a good idea to give flowers on Christmas. But give them to someone you see everyday in your community. 2. Send sunshine. Leave happy notes around your neighbourhood. Leave them on cars or gates, or post a bunch of post-its around! 3. Bury treasure at the playground for street kids. A treasure hunt is always exciting and kids would love that. 4. Feed the birds. In fact, make your own bird feeder! Christmas is the time to reach out to everyone, even birds and animals! 5. Plant a tree, and give back something to nature!   6. Pay the toll, bus fare or metro fare for the person behind you. Because there's nothing better than doing something for a complete stranger. 7. Call everyone you love and express your feelings. You don't do it often, so do it now. 8. Be kind to yourself. We take ourselves for granted most of the time. This Christmas, forgive yourself for all the mistakes in the past and start afresh. 9. Drop money on the sidewalk for people to find. There is nothing more surprising than finding money on the road. 10. Say thank you. Say it to everyone who did something nice for you this year, no matter how small. \ 11. Send a letter to a lonely person, and spread some joy. 12. Spend some time with your parents. Maybe offer them your credit card for the day. Come on, they've done it for you all their lives! The latter he nodded “Yes” to,  Or paused to say beneath some lovelier one,  With a buyer’s moderation, “That would do.”  I thought so too, but wasn’t there to say so.   We climbed the pasture on the south, crossed over,  And came down on the north.                                     He said, “A thousand.”    “A thousand Christmas trees!—at what apiece?”    He felt some need of softening that to me:       “A thousand trees would come to thirty dollars.” Then I was certain I had never meant  To let him have them. Never show surprise!  But thirty dollars seemed so small beside  The extent of pasture I should strip, three cents    (For that was all they figured out apiece)—  Three cents so small beside the dollar friends  I should be writing to within the hour  Would pay in cities for good trees like those,  Regular vestry-trees whole Sunday Schools     Could hang enough on to pick off enough.  A thousand Christmas trees I didn’t know I had!  Worth three cents more to give away than sell,  As may be shown by a simple calculation.  Too bad I couldn’t lay one in a letter.       I can’t help wishing I could send you one,  In wishing you herewith a Merry Christmas.            This poem is in the public domain.
