Dear Poem-a-Day Subscriber,

Today we mark Emily Dickinson’s birthday and celebrate her unique place in American poetry. We’re honored to share her poems—documenting American poetry’s past is part of our work. But we’re also committed to showcasing poetry's present.

Each year through Poem-a-Day we introduce readers “a ribbon at a time” to more than 250 poets writing today. But we need your help to support this free 365-day program.

During this season of giving we need to raise $25,000 for our programs, including Poem-a-Day.

There’s really no better way to begin the day than by reading a poem. It’s a chance to imagine how, as Dickinson wrote, the “steeples swam in amethyst” after the sun rose.

Please donate to support Poem-a-Day and our work to help people discover and deepen their love of poetry.

Sincerely,
