“When Identities Clash” on Derek Walcott’s “A Far Cry from Africa” highlights the emotional complexity of being a member of two communities that are in conflict with one another, as well as including references suitable for study of colonialism in a social studies curriculum.

We’re thrilled to be featuring two new lesson plans from the newly published book STEM to Story: Enthralling and Effective Lesson Plans for Grades 5–8, published by 826 National. “The Science of Superpowers” and “Infinite Recess” incorporate science and poetry in a series of fun, engaging activities.
