[Fropki] 7 Habits That Might Be Hurting Your Self-Worth

7 Habits That Might Be Hurting Your Self-Worth

We all have our moments when we feel extremely low. But if you feel like this all the time, then may be its time for change. You need to take charge of your life and emotions if you feel bad about your life often and make efforts to change it. Taking the time to develop healthy behaviours and productive ways of thinking can have a big impact on our self-image. It might take some time, but taming your mind can help you get to where you want to be emotionally. Start by avoiding these bad habits that could be hurting your self-esteem.

1. Comparing yourself with others.

Comparing yourself with others can be the most toxic thing that you can do to yourself. It is important to focus on your goals and achievements.

2. Trying to please everyone.

Learn to say "NO"! We are not asking you to be selfish, but sometimes saying no helps to stay genuine and reinforces your own inner voice and thoughts.

3. Procrastinating.

Delaying work or thinking you won't be successful in doing it might not be a good thing to do. You need to tell your mind to be fearless because if you don't, you might shrink your world. Most of us are afraid of failure and that thought itself is quite negative.

4. Treating others poorly.

Treating others is like a chain reaction. You not only hurt others but also end up hurting yourself as well.

5. Turning to addiction to cope up.

Turning to alcohol or some other drugs to make yourself feel better is the worst thing to do. We need to feel and experience the bad things in life to learn how to handle oneself in such situations or crisis. Engaging yourself in any sort of addictive behaviour might be a quick fix, but is not a long term thing.

6. Always feeling like the victim.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and being helpless all the time. You need to fight the situation and being helpless wont do any good but can ruin your self worth for sure. We are the victim of our own mindset and all we need to is prove it wrong!

7. Sedentary lifestyle.

Spending all your time doing nothing and not working on what you want won't help at all. According to research, exercising can help with self-esteem and social withdrawal. It also helps improve your mood.

Weddings. That one event where two beautiful people announce their union by calling a number of random people as witnesses. Well, I might be trivialising it a little but that's the gist of it, isn't it? What one cannot deny is that they are an absolute visual treat and in India, being home to thousands of wonderful traditions, it's never a dull affair. But beyond the common chapel weddings and the amazingly loud Punjabi weddings that we encounter more often than usual, there are many other kinds that we might not have experienced yet. Here are some of the most beautiful wedding attires from around the world that show what a visual treat weddings are.

1. The Avar bride, a Caucasus native ethnic group living in the Russian republic of Dagestan

2. The Bedouin wedding veil in Israel

3. Traditional Chinese wedding attire

4. A wonderfully colourful couple from a wedding in Ghana

5. A bride from the Gora region between Kosovo and Macedonia. Just look how intricate that artwork is!

6. A Hamar woman from Ethiopia, although she doesn't seem too pleased

7. The Hutsuls from the Carpathian mountains in Ukraine

8. You recognise this one quite well, don't you? A traditional Indian wedding

9. Indonesians have a number of different cultures and a number of ways to celebrate, just like India. This one from Jakarta is one of our favourites.

10. A traditional Japanese wedding with the bride in white, symbolising purity

11. A Javanese wedding that reminds you a bit of Sindhi weddings. Their love for the colour gold is common, isn't it?

12. A traditional Korean royal wedding costume known as Hanbok

13. A Maasai wedding in Kenya where the bride is required to decorate her face and body with colourful shells and beads. It is during the wedding party where she lifts her veil and shows her beautiful self to the world

14. A Malay wedding held as per the Muslim tradition

15. A gorgeous Mexican bride

16. A Nigerian wedding ceremony would often have the women wearing a massive "head tie" known as Gele

17. A Romanian bride from the Oas region

18. A Palembang wedding from Indonesia is an extravagant affair

19. A traditional Peruvian bride in a valley near Cuzco, Peru

20. A Polish wedding with lots of ponchos and many more flowers

21. A Rashaida bride from Eritrea and northeast Sudan

22. A traditional couple from the Ribnovo region in Southwest Bulgaria

23. A fruit cake. Err, I mean a traditional bridal costume from Schaumburg-lippe, Germany

24. A lovely Scottish wedding where the groom is expected to show as much skin as the bride

25. This is what a newly married Sri-Lankan couple look like

26. A traditional Tibetan bride, almost impossible to spot

27. Beautiful wedding attire from Turkmenistan

28. A traditional Yemenite bride wears some rather elaborate headgear to ward off evil

Wonderful, aren't they?

About This Poem

“We have a really terrific screen porch on the back of our house in South Carolina, and when the summer gets ridiculous, I sometimes go sit in the heat for longer than I should. It feels like being underwater, but protected, like in a shark cage. I wrote this poem out of that feeling.”
—Samuel Amadon

[Fropki] 8 New-Age Theatre Actors Who Are Changing The Face Of The Industry

Posted: 28 Jul 2016 11:37 PM PDT

(Please let the pics open. Might take some time on a slower connection.

Meet the 12 hottest vegetarian women

I am well acquainted with the wonders of the stage and its beaming lights. My dalliance with theatre can be dated back to my school days; performing before the entire school would sometimes give me the jitters. But, oh, how thrilling it was to face the audiences and bask in the spotlight! Since then my love for theatre hasn't diminished one bit! A theatre actor doesn't have it easy though - voice modulation, expressive hand movements, impeccable timing and effervescent energy are pre-requisites for an impactful performance. One stutter or lapse in dialogue delivery can probably hamper an entire act.

In the past decade, the film and television industry has seen an influx of exceptional theatre actors who've captivated minds across generations, both young and old. It's a known fact that theatre artists receive careful and meticulous training before each performance. Perhaps, that's why the art of theatre is passed onto many newcomers in the field; so that they can step into the shoes of their character seamlessly.

Theatre shows may not be as popular as mainstream cinema, but they aren't losing their shine either. Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai is hailed as a veritable stage for veteran actors in the industry and attracts quite a few theatre-goers. The National School of Drama in Delhi has a reputation for churning out some of the best actors in the nation. Over the years, amazing theatre artists have forayed into films and have altered the landscape of Indian cinema. I have observed that theatre in India is mostly associated with the doyens of the industry, such as Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Anupam Kher and a few others. These are some of the finest actors who've emerged from theatre, but in the recent times we've also witnessed a fair share of talent from the newcomers. Here is a list of new gen actors who've carried forward their learning from theatre to the film sets.

1. Jim Sarbh

If you've seen the film Neerja, you'll be familiar with Jim Sarbh's prowess as an actor. He played the role of a cold-blooded terrorist to perfection and caught the attention of both critics and women. It's a little known fact that Jim has a deep connection with theatre and he is a prominent figure among Mumbai theatre artists. Soon to be seen in Konkana Sen Sharma's directorial debut Death In The Gunj, Jim Sarbh strives to do challenging roles in both theatre and films. Having performed with theatre actors like Kalki Koechlin and Rajat Kapoor, Jim Sarbh is slowly but surely making his presence felt.

2. Rajkumar Rao

Rajkumar Rao never fails to mesmerise audiences with every role he takes on. We've so many shades of Rajkumar Rao in movies like Kai Po che, Shaitan, Citylights and Queen; it is hard to pinpoint which performance is his finest! A graduate from FTII Pune, he started his journey as a theatre actor. Rajkumar's portrayal of a poor farmer who relocates to Mumbai with hopes of prosperity and fulfilment in Citylights is immensely moving. In Dolly Ki Dolly, he plays the role of a Haryanvi boy and proves that quirky roles are right up his alley as well!

3. Gopal Dutt

We've seen Gopal Dutt in almost every AIB video, but do you know that he is a graduate from the illustrious National School of Drama? Gopal is currently in Bombay, juggling freelance projects with theatre and he confesses that he will never branch away from the latter to pursue his dreams in the film and television industry. The actor was seen in movies like Samrat & Co. and Filmistaan

4. Ratnabali Bhattacharjee

Ratnabali Bhattacharjee is a renowned theatre actor and writes cheeky scripts with the Girliyapa team and YRF for their latest comedy series, Ladies Room. The Girliyapa series and the Ladies Room videos are provocative, witty and reflect her love for satire in India. She also acted in the critically acclaimed movie Shorts in 2013. She is surely one performer to watch out for!

5. Swara Bhaskar

Tanu Weds Manu, Ranjhana and the recent Prem Ratan Dhan Payo featured this hugely talented actor. Even though she is seen as a supporting actor in most projects, Swara Bhaskar displays great confidence as an actor. That can probably be marked down to her theatre days in JNU where she was pursuing her Masters in Sociology.

6. Radhika Apte

Radhika Apte is the industry's new-found darling! A thorough theatre actor, Apte has been connected with Marathi theatre and other well-known troupes. In the past year, she has accomplished so much in such a short span of time. 2015 saw the meteoric rise of Apte as an acclaimed actor and she has acted in several projects like Shor, Manjhi, Badlapur and Hunterr. Her performance in Sujoy Ghosh's thriller Ahilya is definitely worth a mention. Be it short movies, regional films or mainstream cinema, Apte has made a lasting impression on audiences.

7. Vicky Kaushal

Remembered for his superb performance in Masaan, Vicky Kaushal is yet another actor who employs theatre techniques in his roles. An engineer turned actor, Vicky assisted Anurag Kashyap on the sets of Gangs of Wasseypur before debuting in critically acclaimed Masaan. Before Masaan, he was actively involved in theatre and performed with renowned theatre artists. In the newly released Raman Raghav 2.0, Vicky plays the complex role of a cop who has fallen into drug addiction. Being an actor who is constantly looking to reinvent himself with every role, we expect great things from Vicky Kaushal.

8. Neeraj Kabi

It would be inappropriate to say that Neeraj Kabi is new to the theatre scene. He founded his theatre group, Pravah way back in 1996. Interestingly, he has ventured into films fairly recently and delivered a great performance in the film Talvaar. He was a part of the National Award winning film, Ship of Theseus, and will be seen soon in The Field, alongside Radhika Apte. One of the oldest players in theatre, Neeraj is all set to take on challenging projects that'll come his way.

[Fropki] 14 Women Share Their Stories On What It Means To Be Dark-Skinned And It's The Most Inspiring Thing You'll Read

Posted: 28 Jul 2016 09:42 PM PDT

(Please let the pics open. Might take some time on a slower connection.

Meet the 12 hottest vegetarian women

The Dusk And Lovely campaign by Nandita Das moved everyone as the women with dark skin came together to share their stories and how they embraced the colour of their bodies.

When fairness creams are getting the flak for creating a confusion and worry in people's minds, The Soup interviewed 14 different women and they had a lot to say.

Read below to see the struggle these brave ladies faced in their daily lives:

1. Nikhita Chinnari (21) - Financial Analyst

Being a native of Berhampur, Orissa where 'Fair & Lovely' is perhaps the most easily sold product, it's hard to ignore your skin colour. Everyone seems to be chasing a fair saviour to procreate with and make fair babies dipped in milk and rice flour. I think 3 in 5 people have powder stuck in the creases of their neck. But barring 4 years in Orissa, I lived my whole life in Bombay. I was never made to feel conscious about my skin while growing up which is probably why it never affected me. I've obviously been teased and called 'kaali' but I'd grown indifferent to it simply because I knew it didn't matter. In fact I'd feel the same way if I had electric pink skin.

2. Mandovi Menon (26) - Editor and Co-Founder Homegrown

I was a pretty serious athlete and I was always in the sun, and when I wasn't in the sun I wanted to be. These feelings haven't changed over time either, so the idea of trying to be fairer completely contradicted everything I love doing the most. Skin colour has never been a cause for concern in a superficial external way, it's definitely a marker of identity for me but I suppose I haven't had any insecurities about it. In fact, I've always really loved the colour of my skin, if only from an aesthetic viewpoint.

3. Madiha Ali (28) -  Student

I've been real lucky. I grew up in an environment where I was always showered with love and attention. In fact my sister who is fairer often jumps up in my defence if anyone considers her the prettier one. As for my mom, she has never bought any face creams to make me fair. She thought (and still believes) that her little one is perfect.

4. Megha Ramesh (28) - Copywriter

I was teased in school. And sure, the boy who made up the mean names eventually ended up asking me out. But I remember feeling so dramatically awful in school that I think it has to some extent bruised my self-confidence permanently. I want to tell my younger self, that it's okay. It could have been much worse, kids are born fighting through a lot more. I was stupid to cry in the shower; feeling ugly - all because someone said I was. There have been times when I thought it'll be easier to be fair, but I've gotten used to myself and grown to love myself. I like that blemishes don't show up that easy on my skin. I like that turquoise eyeliner really pops and red lipstick stands out. Yes some things look really gaudy against my skin, but unless you're a VS model, not everything is going to look fabulous on you! I'm lucky that I'm in advertising. Dark skin is a lot more accepted and celebrated. I meet photographers, stylists, designers, models and they're all clued into what's happening in the outside world. White skin is normal and over. Chocolate, caramel, toffee - it's all in.

5. Shilpa Colluru (33) - Brand Consultant

I never really thought about the colour of my skin until I went to college in Delhi. That's where I was discriminated in subtle ways about not just my skin colour but also for being South Indian. I guess that's when I looked at women like Nandita Das and Konkana Sen and felt proud about being dark skinned. Now I find that there is an awareness in the upper classes of society. But we have a long way to go before it percolates down to every strata of our society. The day my parlour girl stops trying to sell me an anti-tan waxing solution or a fairness facial, that's when the real change has happened. But I'd tell any young girl I know that skin colour doesn't matter. What matters is that you love yourself and start feeling confident.

6. Sangeetha Thomas (28) - VP Goldman Sachs

I was very influenced when I read the story of Waris Dirie (I read about her in a story published by Reader's Digest as a child) and was deeply influenced by her attitude and wowed by her beauty – I was secretly happier that I was dark after reading about her.

7. Smrithi Rao (30) - Associate Manager, Myntra

Most of my so called 'trauma' was self induced. As a kid (growing up in the 90s), I was fascinated by the idea of fair skin. It was probably because you'd hear elders in the family or movies, television, school, colleges associate beauty with being fair. I've gone through a phase where I obsessed over being fair. So, this one time a friend mine in school suggested we sandpaper our skin to make it fair. So we made all necessary arrangements. But just in time my mom caught us. She sat me down and told me what I was about do would have been extremely harmful and achieving fairness should never be my end goal. It didn't make a lot of sense then but in hindsight I am glad I got caught. Now I wish I could tell my younger self that it's OK. It's OK to be dark-skinned and I should focus on building relationships, a sense of humour, being a good person and on expressing myself better.

8. Yasmin Ponnappa (32) - Model/Actor

My mother would constantly harrow me about playing in the sun. Always harping that no suitor would marry me. I overcame it by 'not giving a shit', I'm quite resilient.

9. Lavanya Kannan (28) - Photographer

Society is more vicious about colourism than I thought as I was growing up. This is maybe because I was shielded from any irregular comments because of the attitudes of my parents and so I never took it very seriously. My sister is paler than me, and I never felt discriminated by my parents because of it. But right now, perceptions of beauty have shifted. But I still don't believe that people have never liked dark skin, I refuse to believe that.

10. Shovona Karmakar (26) - Photographer

When I was 19, I did a 365 day project where I photographed myself every day and tried to understand every nuance of my body, face, hair and ultimately my identity. I started this project right after my break up with someone who didn't accept me for the way I looked, but as the project drew to a close, it became much bigger than that. I started to understand my heritage and my uniqueness. I am very comfortable with myself today, I know I am different and I am very proud of it.

11. Megha Ramaswamy (33) - Artist/Filmmaker

If I could speak to my younger self, I'd tell myself it's a long journey to security and understanding but always be comfortable calling yourself a dark girl. You're not wheatish or dusky or like chocolate. The opposite of fair is dark and that is normal and lovely too.

12. Aishwarya Arumbakkam (28) Photographer/Filmmaker

There is so much literature you know, in Tamil, old and new that represents dark skin as something that's sensual and beautiful. That was also the case with mythology and art that I was exposed to when I was young. 'Dark as indigo or midnight sky'- that's quite heady and beautiful. Apart from this I don't remember that skin colour ever featured as a topic of discussion while growing up. I think I had a good support system and a position of privilege that insulated me from this issue. And honestly, I have a lot more real concerns in my life regarding work, health, lifestyle etc. I'd rather spend time thinking and feeling about that, because dark skin is just a natural part of me.

13. Mariette Valsan - Model/Actor

I remember an incident where I wasn't allowed to audition for a hair commercial saying I didn't fit the look. I was puzzled and proceeded to ask what look they were going for and the casting director let it slip that I was too dark to do the commercial. Which was hilarious and outrageous both, because I was auditioning for a HAIR commercial. And then again, recently, I was shooting for a TVC and the clients were American. They came up to me and said I looked absolutely beautiful on camera and my skin tone shone. They said they paid to get spray tans for a tone similar to mine. We laughed about it then but the moment stuck in my head when I realised that half the world made such an effort to get what I am naturally blessed with.

14. Vinitha Shetty (25) - Blogger/Brand Manager

Growing up I was made to feel so ugly by both the kids around me and my relatives. I would not want to go out as much, or smile too wide as I hated my black gums, I wouldn't wear dresses because I was conscious of my dark knees. I have overcome all that only through time. And more importantly, I no longer care. But now when I think about it, I feel a deeper part of this problem is the lack of representation. Every community needs to be channeled to think a certain way. If they don't see a single dark-skinned spokesperson for beauty in this country, how will they relate to them in real life? Inclusion is so important because it plays on the psyche of the ignorant. You know when I started my blog I was pleasantly surprised to get so many positive reactions from other dark-skinned young girls over how I could carry off bold colours and so on. It was great to hear. And I can't quite believe I am saying this but I love my skin colour and the way I am right now. I didn't think it would be this easy after I turned older.

Kudos to these ladies for standing up for what they believe and making it in life. We salute you and here's to women empowerment!

[Fropki] 11 Delicious Dishes That Prove There's Way More To Nizami Cuisine Than Biryani And Paaya

Katrina, Sidharth's Kala Chashma is all about SWAG!

The credit for delectable Nizami cuisine should go to the hardworking khansamas of the royal kitchen. Nizami cuisine comes from the royal kitchens of the Nizams, who ruled Hyderabad for two decades. A Nizami daawat was, in true words, flamboyant and grandiose. From hundreds of dishes being laid to crushing pearls in the dishes, the Nizami love for food was exceptional.

What's even more interesting is that the khansamas of the royal kitchen were banned from sharing the recipe of the mouth-watering dishes they made. Here we look at some different Nizami dishes apart from the regular Hyderabadi biryani.

P.S- While Hyderabadis might know most of the dishes, this list is for people who think Nizami cuisine is just paayas and biryanis...

1. Badaam Ki Jali

As the name suggests, badaam ki jali are basically almond cookies with food carvings on them. Marzipan being the main ingredient, badaam ki jali are made into various shapes and sizes. For special occasions, Urdu lines are carved on the sweets.

2. Patthar Ka Gosht

This vanishing delicacy is literally cooked on a stone. An unpolished granite stone is heated with charcoal and mutton and the ingredients are placed above it. The dish surprisingly doesn't need oil or, at the most, very little oil. Patthar ka gosht is a crowd-puller at Hyderabadi weddings. Since it takes a lot of hard work and patience to cook on a stone, the dish is becoming rare and is vanishing fast from the food scene.

3. Aamras Ke Kofte

Unlike the usual malai kofta, aamras ka kofta is made of minced meat, gram flour and mango pulp. They are then dipped in creamy red gravy.

4. Qubani Ka Meetha

Similar to patthar ka gosht, Qubani Ka Meetha is served at Hyderabadi weddings as well. Made out of apricots, they are soaked overnight and boiled the next morning with water and sugar. It is then served with fresh malai.

5. Doodh Ki Biryani

As bizarre as it sounds, doodh ki biryani has milk as its main ingredient. The meat is cooked in the milk and is then mixed with the rice.

6. Gil-e-Firdaus

Also known as Kaddu ki kheer, gil-e-firdaus is made of grated pumpkin or bottle gourd. Translated as 'the clay of paradise', this dessert will truly bring the taste of heaven in your mouth.

7. Sandal Ka Sherbat

Yes, you read that right. A sherbet made out of sandalwood! Sandalwood sherbet is known to be good for your liver and sun-stroke. It is advisable to have sandalwood sherbet when you're back home after a tiring, sunny day.

8. Shahjahani Meetha

Or Tamatar ka halwa. This is a sweet dish made of tomatoes. Skinned, boiled tomatoes are mixed with mawa and then put in a sugary syrup. The dish comes from the royal kitchen, thus the name.

9. Khageena

Khageena is what scrambled eggs are known as in Hyderabadi cuisine. Ande ka khageena is basically your regular bhurji teamed with a roti for breakfast.

10. Mauz Ka Meetha

Mauz ka meetha is made of fried bananas, crushed nuts and cream. Mauz ka meetha is considered the perfect ending to a daawat.

11. Ande Ka Meetha

Scrambled eggs and cake are not the only thing you can make with eggs. Ande ka meetha or ande ka halwa, when made perfectly, doesn't emit the normal 'egg' odour. It tastes similar to milk cake, as eggs are teamed with mawa while preparing this dish.

[Fropki] Jennifer Aniston's Inspiring Speech On Overcoming Self-Doubt Is A Must Read For Every Woman!

25 Most Romantic College Traditions

Jennifer Aniston's emotional letter that she had penned earlier this month on how media keeps hounding her for little details of her private life went viral and for all the right reasons.

Jennifer, who was recently honored for her television and film career at the 46th Annual Giffoni Film Festival in Italy again gave an empowering speech yet again! A report by E! online states that the 47-year-old actress was asked to suggest a solution for more female-centred stories to be told in Hollywood, and she responded that the aspiring writers and filmmakers in the audience to step away from the obsession with social media and create projects grounded in the real world. She said,

"I think we need to empower women to not just be about dresses and beauty and selfies. We need to start having conversations and put our phones down and get out of social media, take social media breaks. That's why we're not seeing the right stories being told, because everyone is stuck in their phones."

When someone from the audience asked Aniston if she woke up some day and couldn't realize or recognize herself, an emotional Aniston said:

"There are not enough fingers and toes in this entire room to count how many times that moment has happened to me."

Wiping her tears, Aniston further added,

"We're all human beings at the end of the day, whether we're a waitress or a baker or a student or whatever we are, at the end of the day you kind of hit walls and think I kind of can't go any farther. Or this is too much. My heart can't take it or the pain is too great, or am I good enough? Will I survive? And you just have to sort of somehow miraculously overcome. You just go, 'I can't, yes I can, yes you can.' And also know that your actors, your idols, your icons, whatever you call them, have all had that experience in their lives many, many times. There's nothing that separates us from you, because we all started at the same place. We all came out of nowhere. Don't punish yourself if you feel that. Go talk to people and seek help and always find something to inspire you."

[Fropki] 9 Facts You Must Know About Mohenjo Daro Before Watching The Film

Martha Hunt See Thru Dress Exposing her Essentials

"Take it with a pinch of salt!", is what historian Anita Rane-Kothare, head of the department of Ancient Indian Culture and Archaeology at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, told us, when we asked about whether Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro would do justice to the historical story of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation.

From showing jumping crocodiles to women wearing feathery headgear, Gowariker is facing flak for showing distorted facts about the 5000-year-old civilisation. "The name itself is wrong as it's not a name, but a term used to describe the civilisation", informs Dr Anita Rane-Kothare.

Let's brush up our history and try to understand some facts about the fascinating civilisation which was way ahead of its time.

1. Mohenjo Daro is not the real name of the 5000-year-old city. In fact, nobody has deciphered the original name yet

Mohenjo Daro literally means 'the mound of the dead', which is just a term used to describe the 5000-year-old city. It was during the proto-historic period that a full-fledged, planned city started functioning. It's architectural beauty stunned modern architects around the world, as there was a well-planned street grid, along with a proper waste disposal system that would put our current waste management means to shame!

2. The people in the Indus Valley Civilisation did not dress up in slits or feathery headgear

Ladies in the Indus Valley Civilisation did not look like Mohenjo Daro's Pooja Hegde. Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare tells us that the attire of the Indus Valley Civilisation is being continued in some tribal communities today as well. "According to archaeological evidence like 'the dancing girl' statue it is speculated that they wore bangles from their upper arm.  They might be nude till the waist, however the nudity was covered with jewellery. For men, they must have been wearing a toga kind of a thing because a statue of a 'Bearded Man' shows the same. The Pashupati seal which was discovered also shows that they wore horned headgear." Now, Gowariker's got that one thing right.

3. Climate change might have been the reason behind its destruction

There are many speculations about why the city turned into the mound of the dead. From nuclear radiation to alien invasions, there are many theories that try to explain its destruction. "It's due to climatic change that made the river change its course. Since it was a riverside civilisation, and the river changed the course, it brought a famine-like situation which forced the people to relocate to other locations because they had used up all the resources", says Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare.

4. There was no king or queen that ruled the city

Unlike Maham, the evil politician who wants to rule the city in the movie, there is no evidence of a king, a queen or a ruler who ruled the city. There is no evidence of weapons or arms, which indicates that the people were peace-loving.

5. The Great Bath discovered at the site denotes what neat freaks these people were

Imagine the idea of a swimming pool that is 5000 years old! With an 8-foot deep and 23-foot wide public bathing pool, 'The Great Bath' was used for religious functions. Built with walls of baked bricks, there were small bathrooms and changing rooms built around it, which shows that hygiene was a priority.

6. There could have been a trade exchange between the Indus Valley Civilisation and the Mesopotamian Civilisation

"The kind of attire they wore was somewhat similar to the people from Mesopotamia civilisation, and therefore there might be exchange of ideas, trade between the Indus Valley people and the Mesopotamian people", says Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare.

7. The mode of transport back then was bullock carts, not white horses

Archaeological evidence shows that wheels were used during the period as a mode of transport. "A clay bullock cart was found at the Mohenjo Daro site, which shows us that bullock carts were mainly used as a mode of transport", explains Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare.

8. If Mohenjo Daro interests you, these are the books you must read about the Indus Valley Civilization

If this significant historical excavation interests you, Dr. Anita Rane-Kothare has some reading recommendations. She suggests S.R Rao's Lothal and the Indus Valley Civilization and Shereen Ratnagar's Understanding Harappa for readings on Harappa and Mohenjo Daro.

9. Today, Mohenjo Daro lies in Pakistan's Sindh province

It is on the verge of corrosion. Today, the walls are fast crumbling down and the soil beneath it is decaying. The conservation responsibility has now shifted from the government of Pakistan to the Sindh province authorities who have set up a technical community which is trying to stop the damage.

Minissha Lamba Massive Cleavage at Friend's Birthday Party

It's definitely good to go all organic, but it can be dangerous at times. And even though the DIY tutorials look fascinating, not all of them work for everyone and some can do more harm than good. Here are a few home remedies and herbs that you should not experiment with.

1. Tooth paste to cure pimples.

An age old remedy to dry out pimples, but it doesn't work for everyone. The science behind this is that toothpaste contains baking soda and makes pimples die down quickly. But the added chemicals like alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and menthol can irritate the skin and might even react badly. So it's advisable to visit the doctor and not experiment at home.

2. Butter on your skin to cure burns.

Don't fall for this one at all. Butter can actually encourage the bacteria to grow and even accelerate the infection further instead of healing it. The best thing to do is to wash the burnt area in cold water and apply antibiotic on it.

3. A DIY scrub is a no-no.

When you scrub your face with nuts or sugar the jagged edges of these ingredients can create microtears in the skin and can even leave it bruised.

4. Egg white masks.

With the egg based masks the major risk is to catch salmonella. And if it gets in your mouth, you can end up falling sick. Also there is no scientific proof that it tightens your skin for good.

5. Petroleum jelly for vaginal dryness.

According to a study journal Obstetrics & Gynecology a lot of women use petroleum jelly instead of the traditional lube. According to the experiment these women were at higher risk of getting bacterial infections in that area, caused by imbalance of ph levels.
