Walt Whitman Award Submissions

 

Submissions for the Walt Whitman Award, our $5,000 first-book publication prize, will be accepted online beginning September 1. The winner is published by Graywolf Press and receives an all-expenses-paid six-week residency at the Civitella Ranieri Center in Italy, as well as distribution of their book to thousands of our members. U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera will judge.

Poets Forum Lineup Announced

 

This October 20 to 23, join us at the spectacular New Jersey Performing Arts Center as we present our annual Poets Forum in partnership with the Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival, the largest poetry event in North America. The weekend of special events will include a reading by the Chancellors of the Academy of American Poets and a series of conversations among the distinguished poets. Take a look at this year’s lineup.
