Dear Poet
Our multimedia education project Dear Poet invites students in grades five through twelve to write letters in response to poems shared by award-winning poets serving on our Board of Chancellors. This year, Mark Doty, Linda Gregerson, Juan Felipe Herrera, Brenda Hillman, Jane Hirshfield, Khaled Mattawa, Marilyn Nelson, Alicia Ostriker, Alberto Ríos, Arthur Sze, and Anne Waldman recite their poems in a series of exclusive videos on Poets.org. Teachers interested in bringing Dear Poet to the classroom can use our tailored lesson plan.
U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera
Watch Juan Felipe Herrera recite his poem "You Can't Put Muhammad Ali in a Poem" as part of this year's Dear Poet project.

This Year's Poem in Your Pocket Day Is April 27
Every April, on Poem in Your Pocket Day, people across North America celebrate by choosing a poem to carry with them and share with others throughout the day at schools, bookstores, libraries, parks, workplaces, and on Twitter using the hashtag #pocketpoem. Join us, and learn how to bring Poem in Your Pocket Day to your community.
Poetry & the Creative Mind
Award-winning actress Meryl Streep will host this year's Poetry & the Creative Mind celebration on April 19 at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City. The event celebrates poetry's important place in our culture and features legendary actors, dancers, artists, musicians, and public figures on one stage sharing their favorite poems.
