Dear Friend, When Juan Felipe Herrera was in third grade, his teacher told him that he had a beautiful voice. After that positive feedback, he gained the confidence to express himself and eventually began writing poetry. This week marked the conclusion of his two wonderful years serving as the U.S. Poet Laureate. Encountering poetry in the classroom can change students’ lives. As National Poetry Month draws to a close, please take a moment to support our growing education program, which will provide free resources to more than 50,000 educators in the year ahead. We need your help to reach our goal. When you support our programs, you’ll help spark what may become a lifetime interest in poetry—as you can read in the testimonials below. With sincere thanks, Jennifer Benka |
