American Poets Magazine Release   Our fall-winter issue of American Poets has launched. The magazine is published exclusively for the members of the Academy of American Poets— devoted individuals who make our free programs possible. Browse the latest table of contents. Submissions Open for Whitman Award and Treehouse Climate Prize   We are now accepting submissions for the Walt Whitman Award, a $5,000 first-book publication prize, judged this year by Harryette Mullen. Submissions are also open for our Treehouse Climate Action Poem Prize, which will honor three poets.  A Tribute to W. S. Merwin   On Monday, October 21, the Academy will present A Tribute to W. S. Merwin. The beloved poet's work will be shared by friends and fellow writers including Sonnet Coggins, Robert Hass, Edward Hirsch, Howard Norman, Naomi Shihab Nye, Michael Ondaatje, John Burnham Schwartz, Tracy K. Smith, Michael Wiegers, and Terry Tempest Williams. Poetry Breaks   Watch a video from the archival series "Poetry Breaks," filmed in the late 1980s and early 1990s by creator Leila Luchetti.
