But since the American shuttle program came to an end nearly four years ago, those seats have been filled by 'real' astronauts. So unless you're an overachieving science nerd, your chances of going to space are as bright as the sun in the night. You can however still pay your way through to experience things astronauts do. 1. Experience Zero Gravity 
Let's be honest here. The real reason anyone wants to go to space is to experience zero gravity. We've all seen astronauts floating around in the space station having a gala time. But what if we told you that experiencing zero gravity is as easy as taking a flight? A company in the US, unimaginatively named Zero Gravity Corporation, will let you experience just that. For $4,950 (3 lakh), plus 5% taxes, you can take a flight where you get to experience 15 parabolic maneuvers creating weightlessness for 20 to 30 seconds each. They'll even shoot a video of you doing your best Superman impression. Heck, even Kate Upton's done that in a bikini. 2. High speed launch in a MiG-29 On the outskirts of Moscow, at the Gromov Flight Research Institute, also known as Zukhowosky airbase, tourist flights were started back in 1994. These days, flights in the fourth generation twin-engined MiG-29 are offered at the Sokol Air Base in the Sakhalin Oblast. For a cool € 16,500 (11 lakh) you will undergo a fighter pilot like briefing, a thorough medical examination, and then a 45-minute flight with a near vertical take-off simulating a rocket launch. And if you're up to it, maneuvers like Loops, Rolls, the Pugachev's Cobra will also be performed. 3. See the curvature of the earth 
A company called World View recently conducted a test flight of a parafoil, a large wing like parachute. It was sent up to an altitude of 31 km using a balloon and made to fly down. While balloons have been sent to higher altitudes, the successful bringing back of the parafoil opens doors to send people up to the stratosphere to view the curvature of the earth and darkness of space. The company says it will load passengers into a capsule for $75,000 (46 lakh) and since there is no high speed take off involved, no special training is required. First flights are expected by the end of 2016. Start saving. 4. Fly to space in a rocket plane! 
Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic is looking to start commercial space flights using its Space Ship 2 space plane. Mounted on the mother ship called White Knight Two, it is first taken to the launch altitude from where the rocket motors take over to take it into space. The bad news is that a test version crashed last October killing one of the pilots. And at a $200,000 (1.2 cr) price tag, it sounds like an expensive funeral. 5. Fly in an old fashioned rocket 
Elon Musk's SpaceX is the only space transport company that has successfully displayed its ability to launch rockets for NASA. They have developed the Falcon 1 and Falcon 9 and their Dragon spacecraft has been to space five times. For the future they are looking to make the Dragon a manned mission and space tourism seems like a possibility. Expect prices in millions of dollars.  __._,_.___

Lisianthus   With a bundle of lisianthus running at $10- $35, this is one of the world's most expensive flowers. Wide, ruffled and delicate oval petals 'dipped' in violet and long, leafy stems characterize the beautiful lisianthus flower. The flower is expensive because it only keeps for two-three weeks after being cut and cannot be frozen many other varieties. 9. Lily of the Valley   This majestic white flower runs at about $15- $50 a bundle, but is still very popular because of its delicate look. The flower only grows once a year, during early spring and is expensive because it has a maximum lifespan of two weeks. 8. Gloriosa   A native flower of South Africa and some Asian countries, the price per flower for every Gloriosa is about $6- $10. However, if you thought there's a litter problem at your local beach, just wait until you see the litter problem on the beaches in China. If you have had enough of made-up reality TV and saas-bahu dramas, may we remind you that TV used to be a good thing till a while back. There used to be just a couple of channels and Doordarshan was the final word in entertainment. Remember this Doordarshan promo? 
Moving on. Thanks to YouTube, you can now relive the good old days and board the nostalgia train. Here's a small list of must-watch TV shows to keep you entertained this week. On the other hand, for those of you who can't relate to any of this, it's a great lesson on why TV used to be great. 1. Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi (1984) India's first ever sitcom, the show was a roaring success when it aired in 1984. The stories revolved around the lives of Ranjit Verma (Shafi Inamdar), his wife Renu Verma (Swaroop Sampat) and her unemployed brother Raja (Rakesh Bedi). Satish Shah used to play a different character every episode and was even dubbed the "King of Comedy". The title track was sung by Kishore Kumar. 
2. Malgudi Days (1986) Each episode of the show was based on a story from R K Narayan's works such as Swami and Friends and The Vendor of Sweets, among others. The show was set in the fictional town of Malgudi and depicted India's village life and the everyday struggles of the people living there. These are usually small things such as the mail going missing or 9-year-old Swami mistaking an intruder for a ghost and getting scared. 
3. Fauji (1989) Everybody knows this one. Shah Rukh Khan plays Abhimanyu Rai, a commando in the Indian Army undergoing training. Although only a total of 13 episodes were aired in 1988, the show had a cult following in later years, thanks to SRK becoming a big star. Want a bonus fact? While most people think this was King Khan's first TV appearance, it was actually his second. 
4. Hum Log (1984) The 154 episodes of India's first soap opera aired between 1984 and 1985. Audiences easily related to the characters of Basesar, Lalloo, Majhli, Chhutki and Dadi from a middle class family and the actors became overnight stars. What really made the show famous was the monologue at the end of each episode by legendary actor Ashok Kumar which usually ended with the words "Hum Log". 
5. Nukkad (1986) Another cult show from the 80s is Nukkad. The show was about the struggles of the people living and working near the corner of a street. Hence, the name Nukkad. A number of characters that became famous were the loveable drunkard Khopdi, the kind and generous Kadar Bhai and the local strong man with a heart of gold, Guru. A reboot called Naya Nukkad was also launched, but never achieved the same success. 
6. Mr. Yogi (1989) Yogesh Ishwarlal Patel (Mohan Gokhale), a.k.a Mr. Yogi, returns from America, to find himself an Indian wife and meets 12 prospective brides over the course of the show. Unfortunately there's something or the other that goes wrong. Say, a girl being taller than Mr. Yogi. Om Puri narrated the show and in his narrative, makes fun of the tribulations of our hero. Mr. Yogi gets his own back when he finally meets the girl of his dreams, who also happens to be the daughter of the narrator. 
7. Wagle Ki Duniya (1988) R K Laxman's common man found himself on the telly in the form of Srinivas Wagle, a bumbling sales clerk in Wagle Ki Duniya. Laxman also narrated the show and created all the characters. Anjan Srivastav and Bharati Achrekar are brilliant as Srinivas and Radhika Wagle. Some memorable episodes include the one where he's conned into buying a bad car and another where he does the rounds of the licensing officer.
