24 Brilliant New Words You Should Start Using

Food challenges are really popular in India and there are always willing participants ready to take on enormous piles of food to win a grand prize.

1. The WTF Burger Challenge, The Burger Barn Cafe, Pune

This has had its share of celebrity participants like Rocky and Mayur from Highway On My Plate. The burger is a foot long and weighs a hefty 2 kgs! It is stuffed with 6 different patties of chicken, sausage, and salami, and is topped with an egg. Served with a side of fries and a milkshake, finish it in 30 minutes and you make it to the wall of fame. Finish it in 15 minutes and you've got yourself a meal for free!

Has anyone managed to win? You'll be surprised to know that someone has, with a record win of 9 minutes!

The price: Rs. 650++

2. Hindusthan ka sabse bada parantha, Asli Parantha, Delhi-Rohtak Bypass Road

With a diameter of 3 Subway sandwiches put in a line, India's biggest parantha is not something you would casually eat for breakfast with a pot of dahi and a tablespoon of pickle. Weighing a kilogram, if this parantha is eaten within 50 minutes, you are assured a lifetime's supply of paranthas. A prize worth taking up the challenge?

Well, only if you are M.O.P (mad over paranthas).

3. Naga King Chilly Eating Competition, Hornbill Festival, Nagaland

The Hornbill festival is one of the biggest celebrations in this northeastern state where several local tribes come together to display their cultures. Another feature of the festival is the chilly eating competition where participants (both tourists and locals) gorge on chillies (bhut jholokia) that are enough to drive one up a wall. Paramedics are always on site in case something goes horribly wrong.

The festival takes place in the first two weeks of December.

4. ABS Challenge, Plan B, Bangalore

Short for "Ass Burning Spicy" Challenge, the task is simple - succeed in finishing a plate of six chicken wings coated in extra spicy sauce and you might just find yourself on their wall of fame.

The price: Rs. 460++

5. Sasquatch Burger Challenge, Sundance Cafe, Mumbai

This jumbo burger is everything you've imagined - meaty, with bacon, cheese and generously buttered with guacamole. Finish this burger in 25 minutes and it sits in your tummy with you emptying your wallet.

The price: Rs. 1000++

6. Mother-in-law's Revenge, Old World's Charm, Delhi

An eight-patty burger, a bowl of pasta, a side of fries and a tall glass of milkshake, something a mother-in-law would actually want to torture her child's spouse with. What's more wicked? You have to finish all this in 30 minutes and you get yourself a free meal, as well as a chance to be alongside other wall-of-famers.

The price: Rs. 1600++

7. Khade Chamach ki Chai, SodaBottleOpenerWala, Bangalore

Are you willing to risk diabetes for a cup of tea that's so sweet (90% sugar), a spoon stands perfectly straight in it? Gulp down this sugary rollercoaster and you might just be up on the wall of fame followed by a rigorous sugar free diet.
