About This Poem   “The Lover Pleads with His Friend for Old Friends” was published in The Wind Among the Reeds (John Lane Company, 1899).   William Butler Yeats was born in Dublin, Ireland on June 13, 1865. His collections of poetry include The Wanderings of Oisin (1889) and In the Seven Woods (1903). Yeats was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1923. He died on January 28, 1939.
