Here are some ways you can celebrate National Poetry Month, the largest literary celebration in the world...

Encourage young people to write and submit poems as part of our Poet-to-Poet Project. Sign up for Poem-a-Day, to receive a new poem in your inbox every day. Request your free National Poetry Month poster by April 15. Meryl Streep, Tina Fey, Patrick Stewart & Others Celebrate National Poetry Month   Meryl Streep, Billy Crudup, Tina Fey, Chip Kidd, Kevin Kline, Julianna Margulies, Drew Nieporent, Rosie Perez, Esperanza Spalding, Patrick Stewart, Carrie Mae Weems, and National Student Poet Michaela Coplen will celebrate the Academy’s eightieth anniversary by performing great American poems from the past eighty years at Poetry & the Creative Mind on April 24, 6:30 p.m. at Lincoln Center.   Now in its twelth year, Poetry & the Creative Mind helps raise critical funds for the education programs of the Academy of American Poets, including National Poetry Month. Counting Down to a New Poets.org   We’re putting the finishing touches on the redesign of Poets.org, which we’ll be launching this month as part of our eightieth anniversary celebration. The new site will feature all the poems and other signature content you know and rely on, plus new materials for teachers, new essays, and innovative functionality. Stay tuned, and we’ll let you know when we’re live! April 24 Is Poem in Your Pocket Day!   Each year on Poem in Your Pocket Day, people throughout the United States select a poem, carry it with them, and share it with others.   Poems are shared throughout the day with events in parks, libraries, schools, workplaces, and bookstores. You can find poems to print and circulate on Poets.org. You can also share your poem selection on Twitter by using the hashtag #pocketpoem.
