Threesomes - Not what you think

A serial killer is defined as someone who kills three or more people over a long period of time. They are usually male and possess a "mask of sanity," which means that on the surface, they appear to be normal law-abiding citizens with a pleasant demeanor. However, beneath their facade serial killers are sociopaths who lack the capability to empathize with the suffering of their victims.

Read on to learn about ten of the scariest serial killers ever captured!

1. John Wayne Gacy

John Wayne Gacy, also known as "The Killer Clown," was a husband and father, but he was also a repeated sex offender who victimized countless people during his lifetime. He was caught sexually assaulting two teenage boys in 1968 and sentenced to 10 years in jail, but due to his exemplary behavior as an inmate he was released on parole after serving just 18 months.

Once he was released from jail, Gacy briefly remarried (they divorced when she discovered that he was secretly gay) and became a popular and jovial member of society. He enjoyed dressing up as "Pogo the Clown" and volunteering at children's parties, parades, and other community gatherings. He was a respected businessman and well-liked by his neighbors.

During the six years between the time he got out of jail and when he was finally arrested again for suspicion of kidnapping, Gacy murdered an astounding 33 young men. He buried most of the bodies in the crawl space of his house, in his yard, and later (when he started to run out of space), he dumped them in a nearby river. He would lure hitchhikers, male prostitutes, and other young men and boys into his car or his home, then torture, rape, and murder them.

After he was arrested and the police found the bones in his basement, Gacy issued a full confession and was executed in 1994.

2. Jeffrey Dahmer

Jeffrey Dahmer is one of the scariest serial killers in U.S. history. Over the course of thirteen years, Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys; worse yet, his murders involved rape, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. Despite the fact that several of Dahmer's victims managed to escape, he was not caught until one victim ran into the street and flagged down a police car. Once inside his apartment, police made a series of disturbing discoveries; Dahmer had been trying to create a "mindless sex slave" by drilling into the skulls of his still-living victims. When they died, Dahmer would perform grotesque acts on the bodies, including sexual assault and in some cases, eating pieces of them.

Dahmer was eventually brought to justice, and on November 28, 1994 he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution, where he had been incarcerated.

3. Ted Bundy

Ted Bundy was a good-looking guy, and seemed very friendly and charismatic. However, behind his handsome face lurked the twisted mind of a serial killer, and between the years of 1974 and 1978 Bundy kidnapped and murdered 30 young women in the U.S. Those were just the women we know of; experts agree that he could have been responsible for up to forty disappearances and murders to which he didn't confess.

To lure in his victims, Bundy would often pretend to be disabled or would pose as an authority figure. Other times, he would simply break into his victim's homes and bludgeon them to death as they slept. After killing them, he would rape, torture, and dismember them, often keeping souvenirs (like their heads) in his apartments for months at a time.

After a thrilling police chase, Bundy was finally arrested and brought to justice in 1979 and was killed in the electric chair in January 1989, in Starke, Florida.

4. Gary Ridgway

Known as the "Green River Killer," Gary Ridgway strangled at least 71 women in Washington state during the 1980's and 90's. His first five victims were discovered in the Green River, which is how he earned his nickname. He was finally arrested after DNA evidence linked him to several missing women, and he took a plea bargain to avoid the death penalty. In exchange, Ridgway agreed to disclose the location of all of his victim's bodies.

Ridgway would pick up prostitutes and runaways, earn their trust by showing them a photo of his son, and then strangle them either with his bare hands or with ligatures. He would often return to the bodies to have sex with them or arrange them in various poses. Despite having an IQ of only 82, Ridgway managed to avoid being caught for over a decade until he was finally caught in November of 2001.

Ridgway is still alive and serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole in Washington state.

5. Ed Gein

Though Ed Gein only confessed to two murders and does not fit the typical definition of "serial killer," his horrific acts have made him the inspiration for countless horror stories, including Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jame Gumb from The Silence of the Lambs.

Ed Gein lived in Wisconsin with his mother and brother. He was suspected of murdering his brother, but police could not prove it. After his mother died, Gein began visiting the local cemeteries, digging up bodies of middle aged women who he thought resembled his mother, and assembling a "woman suit" out of their skin. He eventually killed two local women, and when police came to his home to investigate they found body parts everywhere.

Police discovered human noses, vulvae, skulls made into bowls, skin masks, human heads in sacks, lamps and chairs upholstered in human flesh, organs in the refrigerator, and a belt made of human nipples.

Gein was arrested in 1957 and spent the rest of his life in a mental hospital after being ruled criminally insane. He died of heart failure and cancer in 1984 at the age of 77.

6. Henry Lee Lucas

Once listed as America's most prolific serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas killed at least 350 people over the course of twenty years, though he confessed that he was involved in up to 600 murders. Lucas was the inspiration for the movie Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer.

After murdering his own mother, Lucas spent 10 years in jail but was eventually released due to overcrowding. Once he got out, he became a drifter in the southern states of the U.S., making friends with Ottis Toole, a man who would become his accomplice in over 108 murders and other crimes.

In 2001, Lucas died in prison of natural causes at the age of 66.

7. Aileen Wuornos

One of the few female serial killers on record, Aileen Wuornos was a prostitute who murdered at least seven men between 1989 and 1990. Actress Charlize Theron won a Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Wuornos in the movie Monster.

Wuornos lived a life of abuse and neglect, having a baby at age 15 (who was put up for adoption) and engaging in an incestuous relationship with her brother. She was briefly married and spent time in jail for petty robberies and assault. Eventually she fell in love with a woman and supported them both by turning tricks as a prostitute. During her years of prostitution Wuornos shot and killed seven men who she claimed were trying to harm her during their sex sessions.

Wuornos was arrested in 1991 and confessed to the murders three days later. She was killed by lethal injection in 2002.

8. Richard Trenton Chase

Nicknamed "The Vampire of Sacramento," Richard Trenton Chase was most famous for drinking the blood of his victims and eating parts of their bodies. He killed six people over the course of one month in northern California in 1977. Chase spent time in a mental hospital after being caught capturing small animals and devouring them raw, sometimes blending the corpses with Coca Cola in a blender to make a milkshake. After being treated with anti-psychotic medications he was released, and that's when he started killing humans.

Chase murdered six people, including two children, and engaged in sex with their bodies after he murdered them. He would also drink and bathe in their blood and eat their internal organs. Chase was finally caught in 1979 after murdering an entire family. His defense tried to get him a lesser charge due to his history of insanity, but a jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to death by the gas chamber. Chase then killed himself in jail in 1980 by saving up his prescription antidepressent medicine and taking a lethal overdose in his cell.

9. Andrei Chikatilo

Ukranian-born Soviet killer Andrei Chikatilo was nicknamed the "Butcher of Rostov," "The Red Ripper" or "The Rostov Ripper." He killed at least 52 women and children between 1978 and 1990 and was convicted in 1992 and executed in 1994.

Chikatilo first killed a 9 year old girl in 1979, and during the experience he discovered that he could only achieve sexual satisfaction by stabbing and slashing women and children to death.

Chikatilo was in and out of jail and suspected of crimes for many years, but there was never enough evidence to put him away for good. Finally, in a well-orchestrated police snare, Chikatilo was caught in 1990 and eventually confessed to killing 36 people. He was charged with killing 53 women and children between 1978 and 1990 and was convicted of 52 murders in 1992. In 1994 he was executed by a single gun shot wound behind the right ear.

10. Dennis Rader

Between 1974 and 1991, Dennis Rader killed at least ten people in the Wichita, Kansas area. Rader was known as the BTK Killer, which stands for "bind, torture, kill." Rader also sent notes to local authorities and media outlets describing the killing process, taunting them for not catching him. It was these letters that lead to his eventual capture in 2005.

After Rader kidnapped his victims he would bind them and strangle them until they passed out. Then he'd let them wake up and do it again, repeating the near-death experience and getting sexual gratification from it. He would eventually strangle the victim to death and masturbate into an article of their clothing.

Rader was caught because police were able to extract a deleted file from a floppy disk the killer had sent them. On the disk was information about Rader's church, an organization of which he was an active member. It was DNA evidence that eventually busted Rader, and he later confessed to the crimes. He was convicted of 10 counts of murder in 2005. He is still in jail serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] MORNING COFFEE

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 05:52 PM PDT

"Cherish those that are closest to you."
Often, the things we value most become so much a part of us we forget to appreciate them. We take things for granted and never give them a second thought.
Have you ever called an acquaintance to thank them for something they've done, and never thought of saying thanks to your dearest friend for everything she has done?
Today is your day to reflect on the things and people that have done things for you. Take joy in your love for your children, your partner, your friends and other family members. Then, find a way to let them know how much they mean to you.
You'll feel great when you do – and so will they!

Remember What Is Most Important. . .
It's not having everything go right ;
it's facing whatever goes wrong.
It's not being without fear ;
it's having the determination to go on in spite of it.
It's not where you stand,
but the direction you're going in.
It's more than never having bad moments;
it's knowing you are always bigger than the moment.
It's believing you have already been given everything
you need to handle life.
It's not being able to rid
the world of all its injustices;
it's being able to rise above them.
It's the belief in your heart
that there will always be
more good than bad in the world.
It's remembering that every day ends
and brings a new tomorrow
full of exciting new things.
It's loving what you do
and doing the best you can.
Vickie M. Worsham

Enjoy more

The more you enjoy, the more you accomplish. Truly enjoy every moment, and you create a positive momentum that is unstoppable.
It is not success that brings happiness. It is happiness that brings success.
Enjoy life, however it may be, and you open yourself to the very best possibilities. The more sincerely thankful you are for what you have, the more value there is in it.
Let yourself enjoy yourself, your life, your world and all the people in it. Enjoy, and the awesome power of gratitude comes easily and naturally.
Reality is what it is, and yet you can always choose how to respond to it. Respond more and more with enthusiastic enjoyment, and watch that reality steadily improve.
Life is yours and it is beautiful on this day, in this place. Enjoy, and make it even better.

[Fropki] People Who Refused Millionaire Offers

Jennifer Lopez - 2013 amfAR Inspiration Gala in NY

1. The Math Genious Who Turned Down a US$1 million Prize

In 2003, Russian mathematician Grigori Perelman solved the seemingly unsolvable Poincaré conjecture, a 100-year-old problem, to prove that any shape without a hole can be formed into a sphere. Considered one of the world's smartest men, Perelman published two proofs of the theorem in 2002 and 2003. It took until 2010 for a team of mathematicians to validate his results. The problem was one of the seven listed on the Cambridge, Massachusetts' Clay Mathematics Institute's Millennium Prize list.

The bounty on such a solution is one million dollars and the Fields Medal, math's equivalent of the Nobel Prize. Not bad at all, right? However, right after being offered the prize he turned down the offer. The genius refused the prize, claiming the knowledge gained to be worth more than the financial reward.

"I'm not interested in money or fame," Perelman stated. "Emptiness is everywhere and it can be calculated, which gives us a great opportunity. I know how to control the universe. So tell me, why should I run for a million?" he told a local newspaper. The 45-year-old genius still resides humbly with his mother and sister in his hometown of St. Petersburg.

2. The Lottery Winner Who Refused his US$2.77 million

Who hasn't dreamed of winning the lottery? Not everyone, apparently. A 70 year old German pensioner who won £2 million ($2.77 million dollars) on the lottery refused the cash because he didn't know what to do with it.

According to the pensioner, he was not interested in winning. He simply bought the ticket because his late wife was a passionate player.

After he realized that he was the winner of the lottery's big prize, he went to the German Lottery Association headquarters and told them that he doesn't want the money. Even when lottery officials tried to persuade him to accept this money, he refused because has no living relatives near him (his wife and parents are dead, with no children or other relatives in sight). Finally, following his wish, the lottery association kept the money.

3. The Man Who Refused US$4 million for a ROCK

While on a journey through a mountain near Yemen's border, a Saudi man called Saleh Musfer Al Gamdi found a little dark rock which, according to him, is the one mentioned in one verse of the Koran, where Allah sent Ababil birds to throw Sejil stones (pebbles of hell) to destroy an army led by Yemen's warlord Abraha just before the advent of Islam to knock down Kaaba in Makkah, now the Moslems' holiest shrine.

A year later, he was offered $4 million for the rock, which carries drawings of birds and elephants and weighs 131 grams, exactly the same number of words in the Koran verse that mentioned the stone. Experts estimate that the stone dates back nearly 1,442 years. In addition, he found it just aoneday after dreaming of his father and grandfather, yet another reason not to sell it.

4. The Inventor Who Refused US$60 million to Keep His Conscience Clean

In 2006, the polymath inventor Jeffrey Van Middlebrook figured out a way to sequester gas from waste combustion that, if brought to an industrial scale, could be worth a fortune.

The Chinese government was deeply interested in Middlebrook's invention because of its potential application in advancing clean coal technology. China is the world's largest consumer of coal and has an enormous amount of pollution resulting from burning it to generate electricity. Around half a million people per year die prematurely due to air pollution-related illnesses in China. Also, the burning of coal contributes significantly to the black smog that chokes China's cities.

Affiliated with a university in China and backed by the Communist Party's deep coffers, they offered him and a business partner a US$60 million budget in research and development funding.

But then, Middlebrook began reading in the news that Chinese military hospitals had harvested the organs from tens of thousands of prisoners of conscience, predominantly practitioners of Falun Gong, a peaceful spiritual discipline. He read about mind-bending torture and the unyielding state-led persecution from Chinese officials.

As Middlebrook started reading that he became morally conflicted. "Here's a foreign government holding money under our noses, and then I start reading about horrific things in China. I thought: 'I can't do this. I can't take this money. No matter how much my technology means, no matter how much they are going to invest, I cannot take China's money."

5. The Rockers Who Wouldn't Shave for US$1 million

Do you remember those Gillette man models in their towels, shaving after taking a shower? Well, this is not the case of a model but of some rock stars. ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons and his bandmate Dusty Hill were once offered one million dollars to shave their beards off, but refused – and they'd do the same if asked again.

"Even adjusted for inflation, this isn't going to fly. The prospect of seeing oneself in the mirror clean-shaven is too close to a Vincent Price film. It's a prospect not to be contemplated – no matter the compensation," said Gibbons.

6. The Actress Who Refused a US$1 million Offer to Pose Nude

Famous and controversial actress Lindsay Lohan claims she was approached by editors at Hugh Hefner's men's magazine to strip for Playboy's 55th anniversary issue last year. This wasn't the first time she has turned down an offer, but this time they offered $1 million to pose nude for the magazine.

Rumor has it that the troubled starlet was offered $700,000 to bare it all back in September 2008, and was then offered $500,000 to do the same this year. When Lohan refused the second offer, it was said that Playboy bumped up their bid to $900,000.

Lohan has already posed semi-nude several times, once for a photo shoot with fashion designer Hedi Slimane earlier this year, and for her "Last Sitting" Marilyn Monroe spread in New York magazine in 2008.

7. The Man Who Refused a US$250 million Job

While many people would kill for a minimum wage job, this man refused to continue working for GLG, one of Europe's biggest hedge funds, despite the firm's offer of share options, cash, and other inducements worth a total of US$250 million in order to stay for another five years.

Greg Coffey has been a big name in London's secretive hedge fund business for several years, but it was a single career decision he made last year that gave the 38-year-old man from Sydney an international profile.
Mr. Coffey, whose success has allowed him to amass a property portfolio worth more than $40 million that includes a house in London, two waterfront mansions in Sydney, a chalet in Switzerland and a farm outside London, is someone who apparently can afford to reject a millionaire offer like this.

His confidence, bolstered by the $300 million he had earned the previous year, made Mr. Coffey hopeful to set up his own hedge fund, but eventually he joined a rival hedge fund manager, Moore Capital.

8. The Preacher Who Refused Millions From The U.S. Government

This is the case of the popular Christian minister Rick Warren, who declared that any Christian organization must reject government money if they claim to predicate the Gospel.

Rick Warren, preacher from the well known Saddleback Community Church in California, declared that any Christian organization should reject government money if they claim to predicate the Gospel, and assured the press that he himself has refused to accept millions of dollars that would be assigned by Bush and Obama's administration. The money was going to be directed to his worldwide work for the sake of social care performed by the church where he presides.

According to the church minister, the rejection has to do with avoiding to be driven to receive political pressure, and thus risking Jesus' integral message. Besides, in some cases the economic help is conditioned to support government agendas such as abortion and LGTB.

Poem-A-Day: Pittsburgh by James Allen Hall

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 03:34 AM PDT

Pittsburgh

I burn your Highland Park. I acid your Carnegie
car dealerships. Your Squirrel Hill, sheer terror
in winter. But most of all, I hate your Liberty Avenue,
the last place, one night, I saw my closest friend
saying, Wait here, outside the after-hours club. I wait,
hating your Strip, half your Shadyside, all of Bloomfield,
the bluffs and flats where my friend trades himself.
I wait hours, then trace your Mexican War
Streets looking for his car, so I could declare a truce
in the battle he was fighting against himself. Your Hot
Metal, your Fort Pitt Bridge that leads headfirst
into the Monongahela. In the morning, he's home.
He cannot tell me where it hurts. I help him shower
off the Duquesne residue, the priesting old world
shame. Pittsburgh, you're all grit and gristle turning crystal
track marks, turning a man meth mouth. I feed him,
put him to bed. I'll keep watch tonight in a cable car
ascending Mt. Washington, your smokestacks
blowing clouds over the confluence until all you are,
Pittsburgh, is a sleepless shimmer I will watch
diminish down to the savaged seed of morning,
as impossible to watch as you are to name.

About This Poem
"In Pittsburgh, there are 450 ways to escape, the old joke goes, built on the fact of its many bridges. I once lived there with a friend as he struggled to get sober. He's going to kill himself, I thought, and he is going to make me watch.

Victoria's Secret Multi-Way Bra TV Commercial

It might not be the sexiest lingerie around, but this angry birds bra could be the geekiest. And of course, this could be a little dangerous for the ladies out there, as one of your breasts are likely to start attacking the other at any given time.

Japanese lingerie maker Triumph is known for their annual concept-brassiere for public relations, always unique and sometimes weird. This time, on the eve of introduction of the citizen judge system in Japan, they've made a "Citizen Judge System Bra" to raise awareness.

Japan has one of the world's most rapidly aging populations and has inspired Triumph to create this bizarre underwear. The Birthrate Bra has a right cup with four smiling children helping one old lady and a left cup with two kids suffering to support the old granny.

In a series called "Wallflowers", artist Laura Jacobs made a series of bras decorated in different themes, often nautical ones, such as this crab one shown here.

Now men can stare at their two favorite things at the same time: sports and boobs.

Headlight Bra – it can light up a room, literally.

Optical illusion bra.

Meet the talking bra. You push the gold button (as seen in picture) and the bra says different greetings and stuff. This bra speaks three languages – English, Chinese and Korean, welcoming tourists who step foot onto Japan! Another jewel from Triumph.

Zombie bra.

Faucet bra.

Babies bra.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] "Ten million little things..."

Posted: 18 Jun 2013 05:39 PM PDT

If there's a world here in a hundred years, it's going to be saved by tens of millions of little things. The powers-that-be can break up any big thing they want... but what are they going to do about 10 million little things? They break up two of them, and three more like them spring up!

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] MORNING COFFEE

Posted: 18 Jun 2013 05:37 PM PDT

"True success."
Success is not in your environment. It is not controlled by luck, chance, or the influence of others. Success is not in the greener pastures on the other side of the fence. Success lies right where you are – here and now!
You don't need greater abilities, or greater opportunities. You already possess what you need for success to develop deep within you. So, don't look elsewhere. Instead, expect the seeds of success to grow from your heart.
Starting today, vow to focus, explore and take action on what you have and what you can do. When you do, success will surely follow.
©Jane Powell

You are your own best judge.
When you start judging yourself by looking through the eyes of your parents, husband, friends, or boss, you end up running around doing more and more in an effort to gain their approval. It does not take long before you end up feeling exhausted, resentful and ready to give up.
Trying to live your life by the expectations of others disconnects you from your own desires. It leaves you feeling empty and unmotivated. The gratification that comes from fulfilling the expectations of others is very little and short-lived.
Reclaim the energy and happiness that is rightfully yours! Be your own judge and live by your own expectations. As you reclaim your potential, you will thrive and feel energized, because you are accomplishing things that are important to you. Start today!

Performing the magic
Every step you take on the journey gets you that much closer to your destination. Every purposeful effort you make brings you closer and closer to your goal.
When you are taking intentional, directed action, you are making progress. You are creating the very rewards you seek.
When you become weary, take a moment to remind yourself why you've chosen to go where you've chosen to go. When you feel a tinge of discouragement, overwhelm it with positive anticipation for the good and valuable place where you're headed.
Not only can you do it, you are doing it. You are performing the magic of transforming dreams into reality.
What you're doing is difficult and burdensome in some ways. And yet it is also truly amazing, because you're creating value that never existed before.
Continue the effort, continue to persist, and continue performing the magic. And delight in the outstanding rewards it brings.
Ralph Marston

Bollywood's bikini bombshells

1. Victor Lustig: the criminal who managed to "sell" the Eiffel Tower, twice!

In 1925 a con artist called Victor Lustig managed to sell the Eiffel tower, not just once, but twice within two months! France had just recovered from World War I, and Paris was booming, an excellent environment for a con artist. Lustig's master con came to him one spring day when he was reading a newspaper article regarding the debate raging around the maintenance costs of the 36 year old Eiffel tower. Lustig saw the possibilities behind this article and developed a remarkable scheme.

Lustig produced fake government stationery for him and invited six scrap metal dealers to a confidential meeting at one of the most prestigious hotel in Paris, to discuss a possible business deal. There, Lustig introduced himself as the deputy director-general of the Ministry of Posts and Telegraphs. He told the group that the upkeep on the Eiffel Tower was so outrageous that the city could not maintain it any longer, and wanted to sell it for scrap. Due to the certain public outcry the matter was to be kept secret until all the details were thought out. The idea was not as implausible in 1925 as it would be today. The Eiffel Tower had been built for the 1889 Paris Exposition, and was not intended to be permanent. It was to have been taken down in 1909 and moved somewhere else. Lustig took the men to the tower in a rented limousine for an inspection tour. It gave Lustig the opportunity to gauge which of them was the most enthusiastic and gullible. Lustig asked for bids to be submitted the next day. In reality, Lustig already knew he would accept the bid from one dealer, Andre Poisson. Poisson was insecure, feeling he was not in the inner circles of the Parisian business community, and thought that obtaining the Eiffel Tower deal would put him in the big league. However, Poisson's wife was suspicious, wondering who this official was, why everything was so secret, and why everything was being done so quickly. To deal with her suspicion, Lustig arranged another meeting, and then "confessed." As a government minister, he did not make enough money to pursue the lifestyle he enjoyed, and needed to find ways to supplement his income. This meant that his dealings needed certain discretion. Poisson understood immediately. He was dealing with another corrupt government official who wanted a bribe. That put Poisson's mind at rest immediately, since he was familiar with the type and had no problems dealing with such people. So Lustig not only received the funds for the Eiffel Tower, he also collected a large bribe. Lustig and his personal secretary, a Franco American con man Robert Arthur Tourbillon, hastily took a train for Vienna with a suitcase full of cash. Surprisingly, nothing happened. Poisson was too humiliated to complain to the police. A month later, Lustig returned to Paris, selected six more scrap dealers, and tried to sell the Tower once more. This time, the chosen victim went to the police before Lustig could close the deal, but Lustig and Collins managed to evade arrest.

2. Frank Abagnale: the teenager impostor who passed over 2.5 million dollars in forged checks

Frank William Abagnale, Jr. is an American security consultant best known for his history as a former confidence trickster, check forger, skilled impostor, and escape artist. He became notorious in the 1960s for successfully passing US$2.5 million worth of meticulously forged checks across 26 countries over the course of five years, starting when he was only 17 years old. In the process, he claimed to have assumed no fewer than eight separate identities, successfully impersonated an airline pilot, a doctor, a prison inspector, and a lawyer. He escaped from police custody twice (once from a taxiing airliner and once from a US federal penitentiary), all before he was 21 years old. Abagnale's life story provided the inspiration for the feature film Catch Me If You Can. He is currently a consultant and lecturer at the academy and field offices for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He also runs Abagnale & Associates, a financial fraud consultancy company.

3. Anthony J. Curcio: the bank robber who fooled the police by hiring decoys through Craigslist

In an elaborate robbery scheme, a crook robbed an armored truck outside a Bank of America branch in Monroe, Wash., by hiring decoys through Craigslist to deter authorities. It gets better: He then escaped in a creek headed for the Skykomish River in an inner tube, and the cops are still looking for him. It appears to have unfolded this way, around 11:00 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, the robber, wearing a yellow vest, safety goggles, a blue shirt, and a respirator mask went over to a guard who was overseeing the unloading of cash to the bank from the truck. He sprayed the guard with pepper spray, grabbed his bag of money, and fled the scene. But here's the hilarious twist. The robber had previously put out a Craigslist ad for road maintenance workers, promising wages of $28.50 per hour. Recruits were asked to wait near the Bank of America right around the time of the robbery--wearing yellow vests, safety goggles, a respirator mask, and preferably a blue shirt. At least a dozen of them showed up after responding to the Craigslist ad. "I came across the ad that was for a prevailing wage job for $28.50 an hour," one of the unwitting decoys said. As it turns out, they were simply placed there to confuse cops who were looking for a guy wearing a virtually identical outfit.

Three weeks prior to the robbery, a homeless man contacted city authorities after seeing someone recover an oddball array of items from behind the same bank branch--a black wig, a reflective safety vest, dark glasses, a two-way radio, a baseball cap, and a can of mace--and provided a license plate number. It's believed that the witness may have seen a test run of the heist-in-progress. Using the license plate data, cops tracked down 28-year-old Anthony J. Curcio, recovered a "significant" amount of money from him, and are holding him in the Snohomish County Jail. His family had apparently recently had some financial difficulties, and had a prior home foreclosed. Curcio also had an infant daughter born 10 days before the robbery, according to birth announcements that the Seattle Times surface.

4. The woman who robbed a house, was caught by the owner but escaped by saying she was on the wrong house

A woman stole cash and jewelry from a home a Wednesday morning but pretended she was in the wrong house when she was caught by the resident. A Maple Avenue resident told the police that he returned to his house at about 10 a.m. to find a woman standing in his foyer. The woman told the resident she mistakenly entered his house through the garage thinking it was her friend's house. The woman then claimed she was going to a false address, and appeared to call a person she said was her mother before leaving.. The resident called a family member who told him to call police and soon discovered jewelry and cash missing from his house. The woman was described by the resident to police as approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall, with a medium build, medium length hair and in her 20s.

5. Colton Harris-Moore: the 19-year-old boy who stole 3 airplanes and a $450,000 yacht barefoot

For more than two years, lawmen had been hunting Colton Harris-Moore, the elusive 19-year-old "Barefoot Bandit" they believe is responsible for hundreds of burglaries and the theft of at least three airplanes and a $450,000 yacht. Harris-Moore is suspected in countless burglaries round the country, including Washington, Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois. He is also believed to have committed crimes in Canada and, most recently, the Bahamas. Since many of Harris-Moore's alleged crimes were committed while he was barefoot, the media dubbed him the "Barefoot Bandit." Not only have several folk-hero-style ballads been written about Harris-Moore, but he also has a huge fan following on the Internet. A Facebook fan page dedicated to him boasts more than 89,000 fans.

Harris-Moore was captured in the Bahamas on July 2010.

6. The 70-year-old 'grandpa' who has already stolen 11 banks

The FBI has been on the search for an unidentified man nicknamed the "Geezer Bandit," since he was first suspected of robbing a bank in August, 2009. He tends to wear a baseball cap, glasses and a sweater or blazer, and is occasionally seen with oxygen or a cane. In the latest robbery, he was also wearing latex gloves. The notorious bank robber is suspected of pulling off his 11th heist at a California Bank of America. The police say it is possible the suspect could be a younger man wearing a mask or makeup to make himself look older.

7. Angie Sanclemente Valencia: the runaway lingerie model who ran an all-models cocaine-smuggling cartel

Angie Sanclemente Valencia is a Colombian lingerie model, age 30, who is actually the head of a band that carries drugs to Europe while going through Cancun. Angie Sanclemente Valencia used to be married to a drug dealer who was very dangerous. Angie was said to only hire glamour models to transport the drugs from South America to Europe. She describes the women working for her as 'unsuspicious, beautiful angels'. The women are told to be 'nice, but not flashy'. Valencia, who was crowned Colombia's 'Queen Of Coffee' in 2000, left modelling and moved to Argentina in 2009 to establish her network. Her 'angels' were paid £3,200 for each trip they made and one of her gang is believed to have boarded a flight every 24 hours with the packages of cocaine. From Argentina they would fly up to the Mexican Caribbean resort of Cancun and from there they would smuggle them into Europe. However her network began to unravel several weeks ago when one of her 'drug mules' was caught at Argentina's Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires carrying 55kg of cocaine. The 21-year-old woman began to talk and within 12 hours police investigators had arrested a further three people. The drug mule had made no attempt to hide the cocaine in her suitcase because she'd been told no one would stop her at the airport.

Following the arrests Valencia promptly disappeared from a four-star hotel in Buenos Aires. The fugitive model was later apprehended in a K-Lodges Hostel in the Argentine capital's Palermo district after a two-month international manhunt.

8. Bruce Reynolds: the man who led a $74 million train robbery using no guns

The Great Train Robbery was the name given to a £2.3 million train robbery committed on 8 August 1963 at Bridego Railway Bridge, Ledburn, near Mentmore in Buckinghamshire, England. The Royal Mail's Glasgow to London travelling post office (TPO) train was stopped by tampered signals. A 15-member gang, led by Bruce Reynolds and including Ronnie Biggs, Charlie Wilson, Jimmy Hussey, John Wheater, Brian Field, Jimmy White, Tommy Wisbey, Gordon Goody and Buster Edwards, stole £2.3 million in used £1, £5 and £10 notes — the equivalent of £40 million (US $74 million) in 2006. Although no guns were used in the robbery, the train driver, Jack Mills, was hit on the head with an iron bar, causing a black eye and facial bruising. The assailant was one of three members of the gang never to be arrested or identified. Frank Williams (at the time a Detective Inspector) claims to have traced the man, but he could not be charged because of lack of evidence. Thirteen of the gang members were caught after police discovered their fingerprints at their hideout at Leatherslade Farm, near Oakley, Buckinghamshire.

We apalogize for the two-day delay in taking off, b'cause the sun was not shining brightly in the fog. And we are knowing the sun does not shine in the night. Landing in Ludhiana is not dafinite, but with good luck we can be landing d'rectly in your v'llage.

P'njaab Airways has exc'llant record for safety. In fact our safety standards are so high that even the fully trained tarrists and hijackers are afraid to fly with us. I am pleased to 'nounce that starting this year over 90% of our p'ssaingers have reached to their dest'nation. For the rest 10%, the P'njaab Airways staff has lots of experience for consoling the next-of-kin. Our Hostess Bubbly Kaur will be haippy to brief you on our out-of-court settlement policies.

If engines are too noisy, on p'ssainger request, we can turn them off for comfart, but your flight will become late and you may become the late also. For our religious p'ssaingers, we are the only airline who can help you to contact God at once. In case of sudden loss of cabin pressure, Holy Books will be quickly distributed. We regret that today's in-flight movie will not be shown as we could not record it from the tallyvision due to power cut.

But we will be flying right naxt to Air India, where their movie can be seen from the right side cabin windows. These windows have been opened for your viewing convenience. For p'ssaingers on left side, we have put binoculars under the seat. If AirIndia flight is again cancelled, then for your in-flight ent'tainment. Our hostesses Bubbly Kaur & Cuckoo Kaur will do the Bhangra with flight stewards Pappu and Tappu. Oye, Balle Balle!!

Your in-flight Menu has a choice of Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Fish, Dal makhani, unlimited P'ronthas and Lassi. There is a half charge for Red Label Whiskey served from Black Label bottles. Patiala pegs will be served only on Patiala flights. As per safety rules, smoking is not allowed on all P'njaab Airways flights over P'njaab. Any smoke you see in the cabin is only the early warning system on the engines. Please do read the 'structions on the Safety Card in seat pocket in your front side. It is not a hand fan.

The P'ssainger behind you must read the card in your backside. Life jackets are placed under your seats for emergency water landings on any of our 5 rivers. Do not use life jackets on the land. Kindly keep your seat in upright position for take-off & landing. Also do not use force. Broken seats will not be replaced and you will be tied to the floor during take off and landing. Please be seated first and then fasten your seatbelts. Do not call for steward or airhostess for a glass of water when plane is taking off.

We are about to take-off. We wish you a pleasant flight. For air sikness problems we have echo friendly jute bags in the sit pokets.

Poem-A-Day: Revision in My Wife's Powder Room by Lauren Berry

Posted: 18 Jun 2013 03:34 AM PDT

Revision in My Wife's Powder Room

- It has been said that James Audubon once slaughtered a mangrove of birds in order to find the right specimen for a painting.

I'll need more salt than this. A loose feather
sticks pink to the edge of the bathtub
and slides down to my fist. Her mouth
music boxes shut: its wish against human knowledge.
Inside her stomach--stones and sand and concept.
I can't ask questions in that language. What if
my strings of English reveal the man I want to be?
My tongue waters at every lagoon, every disjointed
flamingo: the mistakes of God. There are
thousands of them and I will need thousands of them.
When the bird steps forward, her legs bow back,
behind her, toward the man she doesn't know
will fit her to this canvas. Bend her to the
face of God. Grace I'll need more strength than this.

About This Poem
"Last summer my then nine-year-old stepson and I were reading a contemporary fairy tale about a family of birds that could talk. When I finished reading the story, Will made a joke that flamingos were 'the mistakes of God.' As a native of Florida, I was wildly curious about this idea. He told me, 'You know...their legs bend backwards when the bird steps forward.' I began sifting through images of flamingos painted by James Audubon and the poem sparked somewhat wickedly into existence from there.

Insights for living with joy and purpose

Dear Ferry Meed

Abundance is not something we acquire. It is something we tune into.
- Wayne W. Dyer

Not what we have,
but what we enjoy,
constitutes our abundance.
- Epicurus

Many a man curses the rain that falls upon his head,
and knows not that it brings abundance
to drive away the hunger.
- Saint Basil

Our journey into consciousness of wealth begins with the realization
that we have already arrived!
- Michael Bernard Beckwith

Abundance is all around us.
Yes, even in a bad economy, even if you have lost your job.
Recognize the abundance and be grateful.
