[Fropki] Coolest Treadmills

Posted: 22 Jun 2013 09:33 AM PDT

Rita Ora - 2013 Sony Xperia Access Launch Party

1. Wall Climbing Treadmill

In an expression of the Sisyphean human condition, you can now climb up a wall and never reach the top. The Treadwall offers a 4-foot wide climbing surface and angles from +5 to -20 degrees.

2. Pool Treadmill

If you can't make it to the gym, you can always exercise in the pool. However, this device is a bit unusual for the work out crowd. The Pool Treadmill is described as a "portable swim current generator...[with a] powerful 24-volt DC motor [that] produces 80 ft. lbs. of thrust and a maximum speed of 6 M.P.H." Basically, it's like swimming against an ocean current, except you're in a pool! Just roll the unit to the edge of your pool, lower it into the water, and get your exercise on. Its two rechargeable 12-volt batteries provide power to the propeller, and you can select different current speeds for the best workout. Unfortunately, going to the beach is way cheaper; the Pool Treadmill sells for $3,999.95 at Hammacher.com.

3. Underwater Treadmill

Hydro training has advantages for athletes across all levels of fitness. It has been shown that water-based exercise enables an improvement of strength, muscular and cardiovascular endurance. Athletes' load on joints and specific muscular points is decreased. As the future of performance training, this contemporary exercise environment allows the user to train to a high level while at the same time minimising body stress.

4. Treadmill Desk

While you're sitting and staring at your computer all day, wouldn't it be nice to be able to actually stand up, stretch and keep working upright or take a leisurely stroll while still staying productive? The revolutionary new Sit-To-Walkstation gives you the options to sit, stand or walk at the push of a button!

This innovative and paradigm-shifting office workstation is the first of its kind to combine an electric height-adjustable desk with a low speed commercial grade treadmill. This low speed commercial grade treadmill features a quiet, high torque motor that lets you walk at speeds up to 2 mph with 0.1 mph speed adjustments. It's slow enough to let you concentrate on the work at hand or even talk on the phone, but fast enough to energize you, burn a few calories and keep you fit and healthy.

5. Rolling Treadmill

The guys over at dutch design firm OOOMS came up with a very interesting contraption. Looking like a treadmill on wheels, the Speedy Rollator uses a special gear drive system to multiply your walking efforts and increase your pace. While you won't look quite as cool as a hipster tooling around on his Segway, you might end up getting there just as quickly.

6. Hamster Wheel Treadmill

The Human Hamster Wheel is an interactive treadmill in which runners grasp sensory handles while running to view their heart rate, feet per second, and other health-related statistics.

7. Treadmill with a View

Losing those holiday pounds can be a chore, especially in colder climates where it's just too cold to be outside riding a bike or jogging. Shoveling snow is no fun and certainly not something we hope to do every day, so these awesome treadmills with interactive TV screens are really cool to use. It's a little out of my price range though, but maybe I can talk the local gym owner into trying one of these out. I bet it would be really popular with his clients.

8. Goldfish Treadmill

We all have heard about treadmills to exercise our dogs and cats, but how about our goldfish? Mick Madden, a metal worker from Huddersfield, has invented a goldfish walker so he can take his pets Malcolm and Ethel out for a stroll.

9. Hot Air Balloon Treadmill

To raise money for heart disease research, Rob Ginnivan ran a half marathon not through but over Canberra, Australia. He placed a treadmill in a hot air balloon and took off. The run was especially challenging because he had to make short strides and the basket tilted at different angles. Mr. Ginnivan's right leg seized up during his last two kilometres, as the tilt of the basket had him effectively running up hill, but he said he was delighted to complete the feat in a time of 2 hours and 18 minutes. A veteran of 18 marathons on six continents, Mr Ginnivan said before taking off that the biggest challenge of running in midair would be taking small steps when he was used to being able to stride out.

10. Treadmill on Billboard

Some ad campaigns are just brilliant. Why waste thousands on mediocre advertisements if you can spend just as much money on a creative approach. This Nike ad campaign promoting their treadmills is one of those campaigns that just can't help but inspire.

They have placed interactive billboards around the world. In each billboard anyone could run a built-in treadmill. For every kilometer run, Nike promised to donate a certain amount to UNICEF. Fun, no?

Poem-A-Day: Summer in the South by Paul Laurence Dunbar

Posted: 22 Jun 2013 03:04 AM PDT

Summer in the South

The oriole sings in the greening grove

As if he were half-way waiting,

The rosebuds peep from their hoods of green,

Timid and hesitating.

The rain comes down in a torrent sweep

And the nights smell warm and piney,

The garden thrives, but the tender shoots

Are yellow-green and tiny.

Then a flash of sun on a waiting hill,

Streams laugh that erst were quiet,

The sky smiles down with a dazzling blue

And the woods run mad with riot.

Today's poem is in the public domain.

About This Poem
Today is the first full day of summer. Summer was a topic to which Dunbar returned often, hailing it in another poem as the "time of rapture! time of song!"

[Fropki] The 7 Super Powers You Must Possess (Shared by: Junaid Tahir)

1-The Power of Focus:
There is a story which tells that during the bird shooting session, the instructor asked each shooter what he is looking at. One candidate said, I am looking at the flock of birds, another said, I am looking at the tree where birds are about to sit however one shooter said that I am looking in the eyes of one of the flying birds ! This is the power of focus I want to draw your attention towards. Focus means to insert all of your energies on one goal and do not let any obstacles change your attention. Remember, you see problems when you move your eyes away from your target. Don't let your mind distracted from your goal. Don't let impure thoughts spoil your plans. Remember, what you focus on increases so don't let the seeds of negativity get nourished in your brain. Use Zoom-In and Zoom-Out tool to strengthen your Power of Focus.

2-The Power of Vision:
A fast pace horse running in the wrong direction will never reach its destination. Instead it will cause misleading ripple effect to its followers too. Building the Power of Vision starts with your thinking style, awareness about your field, your comprehension capabilities and your caliber to imagine the future.
A) Your thoughts are the seeds for your character because thoughts give birth to actions which become your habits and constitutes towards your personality and consequently your destiny. Empowering your thought process involves staying away from negative thoughts, trying being part of the solutions instead of problems with less criticism and more optimism.
B) Awareness: Empowering your awareness level involves a lot of reading, meeting with high potency people, watching relevant documentaries and observing people in the industry. Make habit of reading great magazines and watching news daily to improve your vision.
Once you develop the Power of Vision, your comprehension levels will be as deep as a sea; your thoughts will fly as high as sky and your strategies will be as solid as rocks.

3-The Power of Now:
People make plans people forget plans people fail. Why? They don't execute. They keep thinking and they keep waiting for the 'right' moment to kick off their plans. This 'right' moment never comes if they keep waiting for it. The right moment is now. The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up and act. This is understood that planning is important. However if you keep wasting your time in the name of planning, you will end up as a failed chap. Break down the big target into smaller tasks and start implementing one by one starting today. Don't waste your time as your idea might get implemented by someone else. You might have more tough circumstances with more complications tomorrow. You might have to bear the burden of additional responsibilities so Now is the time to take action. Now is the time to make difference. Now is the time to make things happen. Remember, your thoughts will not take you anywhere if you don't implement them. So take action Now !!!

Insights for living with joy and purpose

Dear Ferry Meed

One day Alice came to a fork in the road
and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree.
"Which road do I take?" she asked.
His responses was a question: "Where do you want to go?"
"I don't know," Alice answered.
"Then," said the cat, "it doesn't matter."
- Lewis Carroll

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I ...
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.

One of the secrets of life is that
all that is really worth the doing
is what we do for others.
- Lewis Carroll

Bollywood's HOTTEST Monsoon Fashion

1. Obama Sleep Mask

YES WE CAN! You voted for him, here he is. Now you can see Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America, even when you are asleep.

2. Cthulhu Ski Mask

LiveJournal blogger Archmage got his wife to crochet him this Cthulhu ski mask for a recent sci-fi-themed costume party.

3. Mickey Mouse Gas Mask

The United States Army Chemical Museum has a very special gas mask, a Mickey Mouse mask ! This mask was produced early in 1942 to protect children in case of a chemical attack against the United States.

4. Emoticon Mask

The Mask Of Emotion exchanges facial expressions for digital emotions. If you weren't easy to read before, now people should have no problems discerning your emotion. Designed by the Digital Media Design Department at Hongik University in Korea, the Mask Of Emotion mimics your facial expressions and translates them into LED pixel emoticons. If you frown, the mask changes the LED design to a slanted frown as it sees fit.

5. Motorcycle Riding Mask

The Calavera Loca Motorcycle Riding Mask is a completely hand-made, leather mask. It is designed as a motorcycle riding mask to protect your lower face from wind, bugs and rocks while not pressing up against your mouth. This mask allows for easy breathing and others can even hear you when you talk!

6. Terminator make-up mask

This prosthetic Terminator make-up mask (complete with LED for that glowing eye effect!) was created by Joe Slatter of The Dark Power.

7. Knitted Gas Mask

Craftster's Teriyakimoto knitted this (non-functional) gas-mask hat for work and play (e.g., "Hey, honey, let's play stern-but-soft air-raid warden and recalcitrant claustrophobe!"). Teriyakimoto plans on using it as a bicycling hat during the long winter months.

8. Pikachu Ski Mask

It was getting cold, so Deviant Art member =Sugarcoatidli3z who is a Pikachu fan decided to crochet this convertible ski mask inspired in the famous yellow cartoon character.

9. Joker Ski Mask

This $17 Joker Ski Mask from Amazon is pretty sketchy, even for a ski mask.

10. Designer Mask

These 'elegant' masks by Spanish designer Carlos Diez were a hit at 2007 winter runaway show. Thank God it didn't become a trend.

11. Peacock Mask

This is a crocheted peacock mask. How weirder does it get?

12. Mummy Sleep Mask

People in your household may not give waking you out of a deep sleep a second thought, but they may hesitate just a bit when they see a mummy with glowing eyes staring at them. It is worth trying anything to get people to leave you alone, so this sleep mask would be a small price to pay.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] MORNING COFFEE

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 07:06 PM PDT

"Awareness is the power you need to take control."
Throughout each day you're constantly talking to yourself. It's completely normal. We all do it. In fact we do it so much that our subconscious mind accepts what we say as truth. This acceptance forms the beliefs that we have of ourselves, and how we perceive that others see us.
If your self-talk is negative, your beliefs about yourself will be also. On the flip side, if your self-talk is positive and self-empowering, so is the image and the beliefs you have of yourself.
Take time today and tune in to how you're speaking to yourself. Identify precisely what beliefs you're forming based on your self-talk and bring them to your conscious mind. Question them, scrutinize them, and become familiar with what are they telling you.
The awareness gained by doing this is the first major step toward an empowerment that will affect everything in your life!
©Jane Powell

RESISTING THE BLAME GAME

A mother heard the family cat yowl in pain. She knew where to look – she looked for her son, Mike. "Stop pulling the cat's tail, Michael!" she chided.

"I'm not pulling his tail," the boy retorted. "I'm just standing on it. He's doing the pulling."

He, of course, is no different than any of us. Often, our first impulse is to blame someone or something else for problems. It's the cat's fault. Or the school's fault. Or my parents' fault.

I once heard a story of a 40-year-old woman who was jogging in a U. S. state park when she was attacked and killed by a mountain lion. Her family immediately filed suit against the state because of its "failure to manage the mountain lion population" and because it didn't "react to reports of cougar activity in the area by posting warning signs."

But an interesting thing happened. Her distraught husband felt it was wrong to blame the state or anyone else for his wife's death, even though he stood to possibly win a small fortune. Against her family's wishes, he dropped the law suit. "Barbara and I have always taken responsibility for our own actions," he explained. "Barbara chose to run in the wild and, on a very long shot, she did not come back. This is not the fault of the state, and people should take responsibility for themselves."

I would like to meet that man. He no doubt believes that the Blame Game" is a no-win in the long run. He seems like a person who would rather spend time fixing what's broken than fixing the blame for it on someone else.

This isn't about law suits – it's more about whether we are essentially victims of life or whether we are powerful and responsible people. An important step in gaining mastery over your life is to resist the urge to make something or someone else responsible. Like novelist J. K. Rowling (of Harry Potter fame) said to graduating Harvard students, "There is an expiry date on blaming your parents for steering you in the wrong direction; the moment you are old enough to take the wheel, responsibility lies with you." Certainly background and circumstances have influenced who we are, but who is responsible for the person we become?

An important decision I made was to resist playing the Blame Game. The day I realized that I am in charge of how I will approach problems in my life, that things will turn out better or worse because of me and nobody else, that was the day I knew I would be a happier and healthier person. And that was the day I knew I could truly build a life that matters.

 Steve Goodier

Don't worry
Don't worry about what you must do. Just get going and get it done.
Don't worry that there's not enough time. Just make full, purposeful and effective use of the time you have.
Don't worry that there's not enough money. Focus instead on the ever-present opportunities to create value.
Don't worry about what others might say or think or do. Use your time, energy and resources in accordance with your own highest vision.
Don't worry about what has already happened or what might occur in the future. Now is the moment in which you can act, and now is where your awareness belongs.
This is your beautiful, precious and amazing life, so don't contaminate any of it with useless worry. Instead, live it fully, richly, peacefully and confidently as each wondrous day unfolds.
 Ralph Marston

[Fropki] Most Amazing Mushrooms

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 09:44 AM PDT

Katy Perry at White House Association Dinner

1. The Brain mushroom (Gyromitra esculenta)

Gyromitra esculenta, one of several species of fungi known as false morels, is an ascomycete fungus from the genus Gyromitra, widely distributed across Europe and North America. It normally sprouts in sandy soils under coniferous trees in spring and early summer. The fruiting body, or mushroom, is an irregular brain-shaped cap dark brown in colour which can reach 10 cm high and 15 cm wide, perched on a stout white stipe up to 6 cm (2.4 in) high. Although potentially fatal if eaten raw, Gyromitra esculenta is a popular delicacy in Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and the upper Great Lakes region of North America. Although popular in some districts of the eastern Pyrenees, it is prohibited from sale to the public in Spain. It may be sold fresh in Finland, but it must be accompanied by warnings and instructions on correct preparation. It is eaten in omelettes, soups, or sautéed in Finnish cuisine. Although it is still commonly parboiled before preparation, recent evidence suggests that even this procedure may not make the fungus entirely safe, thus raising concerns of risk even when prepared properly.

2. The Bleeding Tooth fungus (Hydnellum pecki)

Allow me to introduce to you one of the more unusual members of Kingdom Fungi, the Bleeding Tooth Fungus, or Hydnellum peckii which goes by various names often referring to juice or blood. This fungus can be found in North America where it is more common in the Pacific Northwest and resides mostly in coniferous forests. The Bleeding Tooth also makes appearances in Europe and has recently been discovered in both Iran and Korea. Upon a first glimpse of the bleeding tooth fungus, one may dismiss the ruby-red liquid as the blood of some poor forest creature splattered across the white mushroom cap. When inspected more closely, it becomes obvious that the fungus is oozing liquid through its own small pores.

3. The Giant puffball (Calvatia Gigantea)

The giant puffball, Calvatia gigantea, is easily recognized by its size and shape. Typical specimens are about the size of a soccer ball, and more or less round. However, it can be much larger (a 5-foot, 50-pound specimen is on record!), and its shape can be more "blob-ish" than round, especially when it attains enormous sizes. But it is never shaped like an inverted pear, since it lacks the sterile base portion common to many other puffballs.

4. The Devil's Cigar (Chorioactis) – world's rarest fungi

A star-shaped mushroom, called the Devil's Cigar (Chorioactis geaster) is one of the world's rarest fungi. It's also known as the Texas star. These fungi had been detected only in central Texas, two remote locations in Japan, and most recently in the mountains of Nara. The Devil's Cigar is a dark brown cigar-shaped capsule that transforms into a tan-coloured star when it splits open to release its spores. It is also one of only a few known fungi that produce a distinct whistle sound when releasing its spores.

5. Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor)

Trametes versicolor, often called the "turkey tail," has the dubious distinction of being the only member of the forest fungal fowl community not named for the full bird, but a feathery fraction. However, the chicken of the woods and the hen of the woods look nothing at all like chickens or hens, while the turkey tail does look (vaguely) like a turkey's tail. Who started this clucking menagerie of mushroom monikers, anyway?

6. Sky Blue mushroom (Entoloma hochstetteri)

Entoloma hochstetteri is a species of mushroom found in New Zealand and India. The small mushroom is a distinctive all-blue colour, while the gills have a slight reddish tint from the spores. The blue colouring of the fruit body is due to three azulene pigments. Entoloma hochstetteri is not edible, but whether or not it is poisonous is unknown. This species was one of six native fungi featured in a set of fungal stamps issued in New Zealand in 2002. It is also seen on the reverse side of the $50 bank note, issued by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand in 1990.

7. Bearded Tooth mushroom (Hericium erinaceus)

This mushroom that looks like noodles or pom-pom are known to a variety of name like Lion's Mane Mushroom, Bearded Tooth Mushroom, Hedgehog Mushroom, Bearded Hedgehog Mushroom, or Bearded Tooth Fungus. It is an edible mushroom in the tooth fungus group. In the wild, these mushrooms are common during late summer and fall on dead hardwoods, particularly American Beech.

8. Dog Stinkhorn (Mutinus caninus)

Mutinus caninus, commonly known as the Dog Stinkhorn, is a small thin, phallus-shaped woodland fungus, with a dark tip. It is often found growing in small groups on wood debris, or in leaf litter, during summer and autumn in Europe and eastern North America. It is not generally considered edible, although there are reports of the immature 'eggs' being consumed.

9. Bioluminescent fungi (Mycena chlorophos)

No, you're not hallucinating; you really are seeing bright green mushrooms, but if you are partial to the odd magic mushie, these images won't faze you in the slightest. These neon green mushrooms, or Mycena chlorophos, to use the technical term, emerge during the rainy season in Japanese and Brazilian forests, scattering the floor with glowing spores. The bases of tree trunks, fallen branches, leaf litter and moist soil provide perfect breeding grounds for the mushrooms. Found mostly on Mesameyama island in Ugui, Japan and Ribeira Valley Tourist State Park, Brazil, the appearance of these garish looking fungi is due to bioluminescence, one of the weird but wonderful reactions that happen naturally in many plants and animals.

10. Fly Amanita (Amanita muscaria) – world's most famous mushroom

Also known as the fly Agaric or the fly Amanita, the Amanita muscaria is a poisonous and psychoactive basidiomycete fungi, which is one of many in the genus Amanita. There are several subspecies, and each of them has a different cap color. These include the yellow-range flavivolata guessowii, formosa, the pink persicina, and the brown regalis (although it is now considered a separate species).

Fly Agaric's are one of the most recognizable and widely encountered in popular culture. They have been featured in children's books, films, garden ornaments, greeting cards, and computer games. This toadstool is associated with the famous book turned movie, Alice in Wonderland; the mushroom in Super Mario Bros., and more. It is also known as the mushroom of flies from due to Albertus Magnus' work in De vegetabilibus where he stated, "It is called the mushroom of flies, because crushed in milk it kills flies".

Poem-A-Day: Epistle: Leaving by Kerrin McCadden

Posted: 21 Jun 2013 03:35 AM PDT

Epistle: Leaving

Dear train wreck, dear terrible engines, dear spilled freight,
dear unbelievable mess, all these years later I think
to write back. I was not who I am now. A sail is a boat,
a bark is a boat, a mast is a boat and the train was you and me.
Dear dark, dear paper, dear files I can't toss, dear calendar
and visitation schedule, dear hello and goodbye.
If a life is one thing and then another; if no grasses grow
          through the tracks; if the train wreck is a red herring;
if goodbye then sincerely. Dear disappeared bodies
and transitions, dear edge of a good paragraph.
Before the wreck, we misunderstood revision.
I revise things now. I teach pertinence. A girl in class told
us about some boys who found bodies on the tracks
then went back and they were gone, the bodies.
It was true that this story was a lie, like all things
done to be seen. I still think about this story, what it would
be like to be a boy finding bodies out in the woods,
however they were left--and think of all the ways they
could be left. There I was, teaching the building
of a good paragraph, dutiful investigator
of sentences, thinking dear boys, dear stillness in the woods,
until, again, there is the boy I knew as a man
whose father left him at a gas station, and unlike the lie
of the girl's story, this one is true--he left him there for good.
Sometimes this boy, nine and pale, is sitting next to me, sitting there
watching trains go past the gas station in Wyoming,
thinking there is a train going one way, and a train
going the other way, each at different and variable speeds:
how many miles before something happens
that feels like answers when we write them down--
like solid paragraphs full of transitional phrases
and compound, complex sentences, the waiting space
between things that ends either in pleasure or pain. He
keeps showing up, dear boy, man now, and beautiful
like the northern forest, hardwoods iced over.

About This Poem
"I was thinking about synecdoche and the mathematics of meaning--how one thing can be something else, or a piece of it, and how this washes through a life. I wanted, also, to write a letter to the idea of leaving, and so this poem began to be what it is. What ends up being true, I think, is that meaning slips and slides; writing tries to catch it and hold it still.

[Fropki] Mesmerizing Views of Planet Earth (Most Unique Ever)

Footage Note: The slower video represents a closer resemblance to the true speed of the International Space Station; this footage was shot at one frame per second. All time-lapse sequences were taken by the astronaunts onboard the International Space Station (ISS). All footage has been color graded, denoised, deflickered, slowed down and stabilized. Clips were then complied and converted to 1080 HD at 24 frames/sec. The ISS orbits the planet about once every 90 mins at an altitude of about 350 km / 217 miles.
The yellow/greenish line that you see over the earth is "airglow," the very weak emission of light by a planetary atmosphere.

Daily Inspiration - Daily Quote ... Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Insights for living with joy and purpose

Dear Ferry Meed

Once you have mastered time,
you will understand how true it is that
most people overestimate what
they can accomplish in a year -
and underestimate what
they can achieve in a decade!
- Tony Robbins

Who forces time is pushed back by time;
who yields to time finds time on his side.
- The Talmud

There is only one time that is important - NOW!
It is the most important time because
it is the only time that we have any power.
- Leo Tolstoy

You will never find time for anything.
If you want time you must make it.
- Charles Buxton

Time, like life itself, has no inherent meaning.
We give our own meaning to time as to life.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Today's affirmation: I choose never to be a prisoner of urgency.

[Fropki] World's Longest Nails

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 09:07 PM PDT

(Please let the pics open. Might take some time on a slower connection.
If you can't see the pictures, right click the small Red-Cross and choose Show Picture to view it.)

Biggest Longest Largest - Guinness Records

1. Lee Redmond

Lee Redmond, a woman from Utah who has not cut her nails since 1979, had grown and carefully manicured them to reach a total length of 8.65 m (28 ft 4.5 in), and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's longest fingernails. Sadly, on February, 2009, she lost them in a car crash.

2. Shridhar Chillal

Shridhar Chillal (born 1938, in India) holds the world record for the longest fingernails ever reached on a single hand, measuring 6.15 meters (20 feet 2.25 inches). Chillal's longest nail is 4.25 feet. He started growing his nails in 1952.

Although Chillal is proud of his record breaking nails, he had increasing difficulties with their weight, which already caused his left fingers to become disfigured (and more or less useless). Due to nerve damage caused from the nails' immense weight, Chillal is permanently deaf in the left ear (for he grew his fingernails on his left hand).

He finally cut off his nails in late 2000. However, he may make the odd appearance with his finger nails in tow. He appeared with his nails attached in the movie Jackass 2.5.

3. Jazz Ison Sinkfield

Jazz Ison Sinkfield, a grandmother from Atlanta, Georgia, whose fingernails are around 24 inches long. She hopes her mega-manicure will give her the opportunity to meet Oprah and other celebrities, but in the meantime, she dishes out $250 for a five-hour-long session at the salon each month to maintain her fingertips.

4. Louise Hollis

The longest toenails record belongs to Californian Louise Hollis who has managed to grow and maintain toenails that are approximately six inches long. This is facilitated by wearing nothing but open toed shoes, something that would be possible with the mild climate in her hometown of Compton, CA. Maintenance for her toes takes a total of two days each week when all the time for filing and painting them is combined.

5. Wen Jian

A man in China has been growing the nails on his left hand for 14 years - to help him control his temper.

Wen Jian, 42, of Changle, Fujian province, says he was always getting into fights before he grew his nails. His longest nail is 35cm (14ins) long and prevents him from making his hand into a fist.

He is now better known for his nails than for fighting and has even opened a children's clothes shop, called Long Nail.

But his long nails have also brought Wen some inconveniences - he has to keep his left hand in a shoe box each night to prevent him from breaking off the nails in his sleep.

[AffirmationstoDe-Stress] The Charles Schulz Philosophy

Posted: 20 Jun 2013 05:12 PM PDT

The Charles Schulz Philosophy

(This is marvelous!! Scroll thru slowly and read carefully to receive and enjoy full effect)

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them.

Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4 Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies...

Awards tarnish...

Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with..

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the
most credentials, the most money...or the most awards.

They simply are the ones who care the most.

Pass this on to those people who have either made a difference in your life, or whom you keep close in your heart, like I did.

Handle Change

by Jane Powell

"Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values."

As you race through life, facing daily challenges and trying to stay on top of change, it's not always easy to find time to reflect on the values you hold dear. But, in truth, moments of change are exactly the times when you most need to remember values!

People with a solid value system are generally happier and find it easier to overcome challenges. Values like integrity, loyalty, faith, compassion, courage and a sense of community, all work together to give us inner direction and purpose.

Values build personal resiliency, which in turn helps you bounce back from adversity and embrace new opportunities. Take a moment today to reflect on your values – and then go out and put them into action!

''When you live in the present moment, time stands still. Accept your circumstances and live them. If there is an experience ahead of you, have it! But if worries stand in your way, put them off until tomorrow. Give yourself a day off from worry. You deserve it. Some people live with a low-grade anxiety tugging at their spirit all day long. They go to sleep with it, wake up with it, carry it around at home, in town, to church, and with friends. Here's a remedy: Take the present moment and find something to laugh at. People who laugh, last. ''

Winners and winners

There are those who win now, and those who will win later. If everyone were to win first place all at once, the victory would have no real meaning.

If you resent those who win the race, you give up a valuable opportunity. You give up the opportunity to learn from their examples.

There are those who win in one area of life, and others who win in other areas of life. If everyone was the best at the very same thing, think of how terribly tedious and predictable things would be.

Just because one person wins, or excels, or achieves, does not mean everyone else loses. Life's victories do not happen in a vacuum, and their valuable consequences reach far beyond those who achieve them.

Choose to be inspired, to learn from, and to catch the positive energy of those who win. Then make use of that energy, and build on it to win in your very own way.

Sincerely celebrate the victories of those who win. For that makes you a winner, too.

Ralph Marston
