Malaika, Lara, Shilpa: How off-duty star mums spend time?

At some point or the other, we all get a second chance. But not everyone gets them right. We bring you 10 people who have made great comebacks!

1. Yuvraj Singh

His passion for his game helped him make a comeback. When cancer came into his life, he was at the peak of his career with the Man of the Tournament award in the 2011 World Cup. Singh battled the disease by moving to the US for his 10 month long chemotherapy. He was back on the field in international cricket when he scored 34 off 26 in T20I at Chennai.

2. Amitabh Bachchan

The greatest actor in India has not had it so easy after all. The angry young man hit a rough patch in the 90s when most of the films he did failed at the box office. Moreover, his production company went down the drain leaving Bachchan in heavy debt. Soon after, Bachchan picked himself again by becoming the stern father figure and hosting the show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Since then there has been no looking back. Today, at 72, he is the busiest actor in B-town.

3. Lisa Ray

Not many people know that Ray is a cancer survivor too. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2009 and underwent a stem transplant. After coming out cancer free, she got married to a management consultant Jason Dehni in California, USA. She also went on to host a popular TV show "Oh My Gold' on TLC.

4. Vidya Balan

Balan came on the TV show 'Hum-Paanch' ages ago. She wasn't all that popular, but secretly wanted to be an actor. After endless struggling, Balan made her debut with Pradeep Sarkar's Parineeta setting the standard of acting very high. Today, Balan is happily flaunting her curves and is definitely one of the most successful female actors in Bollywood.

5. Anil Kapoor

The jhakass man did a string of nonsensical films. He was over dressed and his acting was quite over the top. Still, he managed to evolve himself with his TV debut 24. Although 24 was only a rip off of its American counterpart, Kapoor did pull it off well. He's the new hot middle aged man in Bollywood.

 6. Mary Kom

She was experiencing the best time as a boxer when she decided to get married. After a break, she started playing small tournaments but it wasn't like before. Mary continued to work hard under her coach M.Narjit Singh until she finally made a comeback. She won a silver medal at the 2008 Asian Women Boxing Championship followed by a gold medal at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam.

7. Sanjay Leela Bhansali

He made Black, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas, and always got it right. The man who has won the national award failed miserably after he made Sawaariya and Guzaarish. However, he came back with a bang with  Ram-Leela, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

8. Shahid Kapoor

The chocolate boy who debuted with Ishk-Vishk pretty much nailed it in his first shot. However, a string of flops followed interspersed with on and off successes, not great enough to survive. He received a lot of limelight for his break up with long-time girlfriend Kareena Kapoor. Nevertheless, the actor recently got an award for his performance in Vishal Bhardwaj's Haidar. Previously, he acted in R Rajkumar which was a commercial success as well.

9. Saif Ali khan

Saif had vanished from the industry for a few years. He hardly did films in the 90s and the ones he did don't deserve to be mentioned. It was after Dil Chahta Hai that he came back on the screen with a decent movie, although the film that changed his life was Hum-Tum followed by Omkara. Today, he has a national award and critics love the actor in him.

10. Kangana Ranaut

Most of us thought she couldn't act. She made some horrible choices like Rascals and a couple of other films, but she reinvented herself like no one else. The actor proved everyone wrong when her 2014 film Queen went on to become a blockbuster, appreciated by the audience as well as the critics. Well done, Kangana!
