On this day, millions of people throughout the United States will carry poems in their pockets and share them with others.   Here’s how you can participate...

Pick Your Poem   Find the perfect poem to share in our downloadable PDF of public domain poems, prepared especially for this celebration. Be sure to print it out and carry it with you on April 30 to read and pass along throughout the day. Encourage Others to Participate   Help spread the word about Poem in Your Pocket Day and share how you’re celebrating on social media by using the hashtag #pocketpoem.  Celebrate National Poetry Month Before It’s Over   With a series of free, easily accessible videos and a Common Core–aligned lesson plan, participating in the Dear Poet project for National Poetry Month couldn’t be easier! Here’s how: Show our beautifully produced videos of award-winning poets reading their poems. Lead a classroom discussion using our Common Core–aligned lesson plan. Assign your students to write letters to our featured poets. Send the letters to us via snail mail or email and we’ll send consider posting them on Poets.org. Don’t miss out on celebrating National Poetry Month this year!
