Whether it's buying goodies on discount or driving an extra mile to get a 5 percent off at the local grocer's sale, we think about saving each penny. While some of it does make sense, some of it is downright funny! 1. Order soups 1 by 2. We get more quantity that way. 2. Wait for the end of the sale season to go shopping. Because the 70 percent off sales begin towards the end on remaining stock. 3. Google 'discount coupons' before purchasing anything online. And never, ever buy anything from sites that charge for shipping. 4. 'Ek ke saath ek muft muft muft' is our most beloved mantra. We are suckers for discounts. The only grudge is "Why don't they ever offer 'Buy 1 Get 2'?!" 5. Pour water in shampoo bottles/body wash bottles towards the end to make them last longer. Plus squeeze the death out of that toothpaste tube. Then roll out the tube with a rolling pin and when that fails too, cut the bottom part of the tube and take the remaining paste. 6. Ask for free sukha puri/bread slice after eating chaat/sandwich. It is our birthright! 7. Use office landlines to make personal calls. Also, demand WiFi from office so you can save on internet packs. 8. Never throw away gift-wraps. Reuse and recycle. 9. Asking people at airports to share your extra luggage. Because paying extra-baggage is a crime! 10. Fight for a half-ticket on the bus. Or ask people to 'adjust' on the train as you're travelling unreserved. 11. Buy early morning show tickets as they are cheaper. And while we're at it, always book the last row seats because when else will we get those recliners for so cheap?! 12. Go drinking only during Happy Hours. Or stick to house parties, because well, free/cheap booze! Maybe you'll even be able to pick out the shapes of letters. But upon closer inspection, the genius of these pieces reveals itself when you realize that each painting contains an entire phrase all stacked up and layered into one clever composition.   Take a look at Pref's art below and see if you can decipher the messages.   We'll start off simple. There are only two words here.   Seems Legit   Okay, let's try another easy one. You can probably see the two main words immediately, but look for a third word lurking in there.   Against The Grain ("THE" is painted in like a shadow. [Fropki] Meet Ted Bundy, One Of The Most Psychotic Killers Posted: 16 May 2015 04:31 AM PDT You may also like: The Killer Call Meet Ted Bundy, One Of The Most Psychotic Killers   In the world of serial killers, there are certain names that stand above the rest. One of those names is Ted Bundy. For four years in the 1970s, Bundy and his crimes terrorized the nation. In total, it's thought that Bundy was responsible for at least 30 sadistic murders across the United States. While most serial killers deny their evil nature, Bundy was completely aware of his and even embraced it. Shortly before he was executed, he described himself as, "the most cold-hearted son of a bitch you'll ever meet."   Bundy was born to a single mother in Vermont in 1946 and raised by his grandparents. To avoid the stigma at the time, Bundy was told his grandparents were his real parents and this his mother was actually his older sister.     Bundy eventually found out the truth and never forgave his mother for it. From a young age, Bundy was described as having strange tendencies. When Bundy was three years old, his aunt Julie awoke from a nap to find herself surrounded by knives from the kitchen with the young Bundy standing by her bed smiling. In 1950, Bundy and his mother moved from the family home in Philadelphia to Tacoma, Washington. Growing up in Tacoma, accounts of Bundy's childhood vary from biographer to biographer, but it's generally thought that it was relatively uneventful. Former classmates and teachers would later describe Bundy as an awkward child who had a hard time understanding social interactions.   Bundy's first murders were said to have happened around 1974 after he ended his first long-term relationship. Six college women in the Seattle area disappeared all in a row, which left police baffled.     Bundy's preferred method of attracting his victims was to impersonate an authority figure or pretend that he was injured. For example, around the time of Bundy's first murders, people reported seeing a man with a broken arm asking people for help carrying books to his car.   The abductions continued in the Seattle area until July 1974, when Bundy tried to abduct four women in broad daylight. They fled and gave his description to the police. Despite a full-scale manhunt, Bundy was not caught.     In August 1974, Bundy moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to study at the University of Utah Law School. Shortly after he arrived, a new string of murders began. Bundy continued his signature technique of impersonating authority figures. His victims were all young women whom he beat, strangled, and raped. By 1975, Bundy had moved his murder spree to Colorado (though he was still living in Salt Lake City) operating out of the rooming house pictured above.   In August 1975, Bundy was arrested for the first time after he failed to pull over for a traffic stop. After seeing that the front seat of Bundy's 1968 Volkswagon Beetle was missing, the officer searched the car. This is what he found...     A ski mask, a second mask fashioned from pantyhose, a crowbar, handcuffs, trash bags, a coil of rope, and an ice pick. Police first thought that maybe these were burglary tools and placed Bundy under surveillance while they investigated. They noticed that Bundy's description matched that of the suspect being sought for the 1974 Seattle murders. A detective flew from Salt Lake City to Seattle to interview Bundy's long-distance girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer. Kloepfer told the detectives in detail about all of the strange things she had noticed about Bundy, including his odd habit of examining her with a flashlight under the covers while she slept.   In September 1975, Bundy sold his Volkswagen (pictured below) trying to stay one step ahead of police. However, it was impounded shortly after the sale. Inside, police found hair matching three different victims.     While detectives couldn't tie Bundy to any of the murders in Seattle, Utah, or Colorado, they had enough to charge him with the kidnapping and assault of one victim who got away. In March of 1976, Bundy was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison. However, Bundy wasn't done quite yet.   In 1977, Bundy managed to escape from prison in Colorado not once, but twice. The first time he was caught almost immediately, but the second time he remained at large for several months.     After his second prison break, Bundy headed from Aspen, Colorado, to Tallahassee, Florida, through a combination of hitch hiking, trains, and stolen cars. Once he arrived in Tallahassee, Bundy resolved not to keep murdering, but that didn't last long. Soon, bodies were turning up on the Florida State University campus. Bundy was again arrested during a traffic stop in Florida after the officer discovered Bundy's car was stolen.   In June 1979, Bundy stood trial for the Florida murders he committed.     Following a lengthy trial for the numerous murders he committed, Bundy received three death sentences. Bundy and his legal team appealed the sentence for the next nine years before it was finally carried out. After exhausting the appeals process, when it became clear that he would be executed, Bundy decided to confess to all of his murders and cooperate with investigators. He also shared details of how he killed his victims and what he did with them afterwards. During the final months of his life, Bundy confessed the full range of his crimes to Special Agent William Hagmaier. One of the things he admitted to was returning to the sites where he had dumped his victim's bodies to have sex with them until decomposition forced him to stop.   On January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed by electric chair.     Above is one of the last pictures taken of Bundy before his execution. The man he is sitting with is Agent Hagmaier.   While Bundy ultimately confessed to 30 murders, some researchers have put that number as high as 100 or more. Clearly, Bundy was a very sick man, but he was also very smart. He knew how to manipulate people and the system to get away with his crimes. If you can't see the pictures, right click the small Red-Cross and choose Show Picture to view it.)   Lisa Haydon Steamy Hot in FHM   Orissa is etched in our minds as that eastern coast state where the iconic Jagannath is worshipped, and where several visitors go to stroll along the beaches of Puri. It may not strike us as a party destination like Goa, but Orissa shares similar characteristics that would make it a perfect destination if you're looking to spend your holiday on the east coast. 1. Temples Best known for the iconic Konark Sun Temple, where you have probably seen the image of a charming Odissi dancer pose as Lord Krishna in front of the chariot wheel. The Konark Sun Temple, dedicated to the sun god, is designed as a chariot standing 30 metres high. The walls are adorned with intricate carvings of deities, mythical creatures and similar expressions of sexuality that are present in the temples of Khajuraho.  Another important temple in the state that is worth a visit is the famed Jagannath Temple in Puri. Built by the Kalingas, the temple is devoted to whom it is named after, Jagannath, considered to be the reincarnation of Krishna and Vishnu. Although you might be annoyed by money-hungry priests, staying for the mahaprasad and witnessing the rituals of the inner sanctum of the temple are worth the experience.  The Lingaraja Temple is one of the oldest in this region. It was proposed to be the main site for raising a temple for Lord Jagannath but it was built in Puri instead. The temple is moderately well maintained. The main structure is huge and beautifully sculpted. Although it is situated in a crowded old town of Bhubanewar, there is a car park for the arrival of many tourists.  2. Festivals One of the most iconic festivals is the Rath Yatra in summer (around July - August), which is also celebrated in neighbouring states like West Bengal. The idols of Jagannath and his siblings, Balaram and Subhadra, are placed in a chariot which is then paraded to the Gundicha Temple. It is symbolic of the lord's annual visit to his birthplace and the abode of his aunt. Every 19 years, the idols (made of neem wood) are replaced by new ones. This known as Nabakalebara.  The Konark Festival is a celebration of dance as the temple becomes a venue of the display of various classical dance forms from around the country. This happens in the first week of December. The Konark Dance and Music Festival takes place in February and displays dance and music performances.  The Puri Beach Festival takes place on the Swagadwara beach and is a fantastic display of the Oriya spirit, with dance performances and an exhibition of handicrafts, hand-looms and sand art. 3. Beaches There are several beaches in Orissa where you can enjoy the waters of the Bay of Bengal. The first name that comes to mind is the popular town of Puri. Other beaches include Gopalpur, Chandrabhaga beach, Baliharchandani beach (27 km from Puri), Chandipur beach, Balighai beach (8 km from Puri beach), Balaramgadi beach (2 km from Chandipur beach) and Aryapalli beach.  4. Waterfalls Goa has the most stunning of waterfalls, the Dudhsagar, but Orissa has waterfalls to match. One being the Barehipani falls, which is India's second highest and falls over two tiers. Another equally stunning waterfall is the Khandhadhar Falls that descends at a height of 152 metres. The water seems to have a smoke-like appearance probably due to the fact that it violently sprays water while gushing down the steep rock face.  5. Heritage Sites The Udayagiri caves are wonderfully carved and were used by Jain ascetics. The caves are cut out into rocks on a hill and are of various sizes and shapes. One has a facade of an elephant while Rani Gumpha is a major attraction due to the sheer intricacy. There are many other caves haphazardly distributed on the face of the hill. The scattered location actually adds to its charm. Apart from the caves, the hill itself is a nice spot of scenic beauty. Monkeys are all over the place, and you can feed them peanuts.  Dhaulagiri is located on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar. It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it, and has major Edicts of Ashoka engraved on a mass of rock, by the side of the road leading to the summit of the hill.  In Kalinga Edict VI, he expresses his concern for the "welfare of the whole world". The rock-cut elephant above the Edicts is the earliest Buddhist sculpture of Odisha. The stone elephant shows the animal's foreparts only, though it has a fine sense of form and movement. On the top of the hill, a dazzling white peace pagoda has been built by the Japan Buddha Sangha and the Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangha in the 1970s. The Buddhist Excavation of Ratnagiri has some amazingly beautiful 10th century A.D. excavations which have been preserved well. However, the signage is most preliminary and does not give any information on historical significance of the excavated structures.  There is a museum on the site which is no better than the excavation site. The exhibition galleries also do not provide much information. 6. Tribal heritage There are more than 60 tribal communities in Orissa. These natives with their traditional ways dwell in the remote, deep forests and hilly interiors. Most of them are in the southwestern part of the state. Visiting the tribes can be a fascinating experience, but you'll need to go on an organised tour. Some tribal areas are quite inaccessible and require permits, and the language barrier is ever present. During a tribal tour of Orissa, you'll get to mix with the local tribal people and learn their lifestyles. Tours run for at least five nights/six days, due to the amount of travel involved.  These areas hold weekly markets where traditional tribal jewellery is sold. The Adivasi Mela is held every year in Bhubaneshar where various tribal communities present the rich mosaic of their culture and heritage. 7. Lake Chilika Chilika is Asia's largest brackish water lake and lagoon and is an ecological kaleidoscope in itself. It plays host to several types of fish, migratory birds and if you're lucky you might just spot a dolphin! Activities out here include camping, bird watching cruises, and boat trips to the several islands that dot the lake. 8. Ekamravan Medicinal Plant Garden, Bhubaneshwar Literally translated as "one mango tree forest", it is situated on the left bank of the Bindusagar Lake. The features of the garden are raised platforms dedicated to Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha and the historical Buddhist site of Lalitgiri. Ayurveda enthusiasts are encouraged to visit due to the variety of medicinal herbs that grow there. The landscaping has been done beautifully. 9. Tess Holliday has become the largest model (UK size 26, US size 22) to sign with a top photo agency – MiLK Modeling Agency in the UK.   The tattooed model has already represented a line of plus-sized women's clothing.
