Aishwarya Rai's Unseen Sensuous Moments

Having been born and brought up in Delhi, over the years I have come across some obnoxious views about the city. People from other cities have many perceptions about Delhi which aren't exactly true. And even if there is a little truth behind those stories, a lot of it is exaggerated and talked about. You will be able to relate to these comments if you call yourself a true Delhiite. And if you're travelling to Delhi from other cities on work or vacation, if you're here for a long stay or just to transit to the Himalayas, may we humbly suggest that you read this story with an open mind and enjoy your stay in Delhi befikar cos Dilli hai Dil walon Ki :-) 

1. Arrogant People

Delhi boasts of a mix culture where people from all parts of the country are welcomed. We don''t have anyone calling outsiders "Bhaiya log" in derogatory salutation as they do in Mumbai. Having said that, how does one identify if a Delhiite is being rude to you or someone from Bihar, Kerala or Bengal? Being arrogant or humble is a personality trait and generalising it for Delhi is a little too harsh, don't you think so?

2. Unfriendly People

I have heard several stories about the rickshaw drivers being rude but then I have also seen people stopping on the road to help a blind person cross the road, helping foreigners with directions and even standing together at Jantar Mantar and protesting for what is right.

3. Extremely Unsafe

I do agree to the fact that Delhi is an unsafe city but calling it a 'rape capital' is sheer exaggeration. It's absolutely okay in Delhi to get out of the house, use public transport and perform daily errands! The city doesn't give you the freedom to roam around alone at night but then when you are moving out in groups, things are under control and not as bad as how it has been portrayed.

4. Delhi Girls Have An Attitude Problem

Frankly speaking, I love carrying an attitude and that is called a 'positive attitude'. Other than that, I am sorry I don't know what you are talking about *rolling eyes*

5. Everything In Delhi Is Expensive

Well, if that is what you think then clearly you have never shopped in Sarojini Nagar, never had street food in Chandni Chowk and never stayed at OYO Rooms!

6. Harsh Climate

It isn't that hot in summers that you can't step out of the house. And winters too aren't that cold for you to wear ten layers of clothes! The good part about Delhi's weather is that there's variety and nothing lasts for eternity. So we have summer, winter, spring, autumn and a short monsoon! We don't have to suffer 4 months of non stop rain like they do in Mumbai.

You need a game plan to survive in this big, bad world, or else you will fail to make the cut. Here are 9 skills to get you through the rat race called life.

1. The art of convincing.

You need to be shrewd to convince someone to do the work you need them to. Whether it's pitching an idea or selling a product, you need to have/develop the knack of convincing people to do so.

2. The ability to say 'no'.

'No' is such a difficult word to say. The two-letter word looks small but you cannot underestimate its power. You require a great deal of courage to stand by your opinions and say 'no'. Being assertive is often misunderstood for being prudish. However, saying 'no' at the right time shows that you have got your s**t together and that you don't care for others' opinions.

3. Listening patiently.

Have you ever noticed the traits of highly successful people? One of them is listening before talking. They listen carefully to what the other person has to say and then, only then, do they think and reply. Listening needs a lot of patience. Sometimes, it's harrowing to keep your mouth shut and listen to the other person talking continuously. But if you do, you'll be closer to gaining the respect of that person.

4. A good sense of humour.

Nobody likes a person who doesn't like to laugh. Being an unhappy person is not going to help you attract positive people in your life. Therefore, make people laugh with your good sense of humour, and then you won't be forgotten.

5. Being aware.

Being vigilant about what's happening around you will not only make you smart, but also a responsible citizen of your country. By keeping abreast of news and information, you will always go ahead in life.

6. The ability to express yourself freely.

Are you the student who raises his hand and asks questions, or the student who keeps mum thinking that his questions are foolish? If you're the latter, then let me tell you that expressing your doubts and opinions will only make you richer in knowledge and experience. Expressing your opinions without feeling shy or timid will open doors to great knowledge.

7. The art of not giving a f**k.

And by that I mean, caring less about what others think, and doing what you want to do. Once we stop giving importance to unnecessary things, life changes for the better. It's all about doing your own thing and knowing your game. Not giving a f**k doesn't mean that you have to be rude. It just means being comfortable with who you are.

8. Being pretentious.

Sometimes we have to smile even when we don't want to. Sometimes we have to talk even if we don't need to. Well, however much you hate pretending, you've got to do it to keep others happy. But moderation is key, else there are dangers of losing your identity.

9. Adaptability.

The wise Charles Darwin told us, "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent , but the one most responsive to change. Adjusting to the conditions, instead of running away from them makes you strong in the biggest race of survival called life."

into some great

If you want to lose some weight, especially around your tummy, start adding cinnamon to your diet. Why? It suppresses appetite, regulates blood sugar levels, lowers your cholesterol and speeds up your metabolism, in addition to torching belly fat.

Of course, it goes without saying that you have to also exercise and maintain a healthy diet, because all the cinnamon tea in the world won't help you lose weight if you keep eating junk and never exercise!

Check out these simple ways to include this spice in your daily diet. 

1. Start your day with cinnamon, lemon and honey.

Cinnamon, lemon and honey make a powerful combination that will help you lose weight and protect you against all sorts of health conditions and infections. Just boil a cinnamon stick in water, squeeze a whole lemon in it, add some honey and voila! You can also add other spices like cardamom, pepper, ginger or mint to the tea if you like.  

2. Drink cinnamon water during the day.

Boil cinnamon sticks in water or sprinkle cinnamon powder on water and sip on it during the day, between meals especially. You can even drink some before you go to bed at night.

3. Sprinkle it on your coffee.

If you're a coffee drinker, add a dash of cinnamon to your coffee to give it a great kick. If you're adding cinnamon, you can cut down on the amount of sugar you add to your coffee, making it even more weight-friendly.

4. Add it to your juices.

If you're fond of fruit and vegetable juices, sprinkle some cinnamon on them to boost their flavour and nutritional value. Cinnamon goes especially well with apple juice, carrot juice, and even orange juice.

5. Mix it into a protein shake.

Gym buffs, cinnamon makes a great addition to your protein shake, so pile it on liberally!

6. Cook with it.

A lot of Indian recipes call for cinnamon, and it is an integral part of the garam masala mixture. Now, you can start adding a piece of cinnamon to dishes that don't traditionally require it as well. The best part is that this versatile spice goes equally well with sweet, savoury and spicy dishes!

7. Add it to smoothies.

Cinnamon makes a great addition to fruit smoothies. You can pick whichever combination of fruits you like, but one combination that always hits the spot is the banana oats smoothie. Blend together one banana, a teaspoon of cinnamon, a handful of oats, one cup of milk, half a cup of yogurt and one teaspoon of sugar. Have it for breakfast or after a workout. 

8. Sprinkle it on your oats or cereal.

If you eat oats or cereal for breakfast, a dash of cinnamon will go a long way toward improving the taste.

We get these amazingly out-of-the-box design ideas that go perfectly well with the brand, but somehow, SOMEHOW, we realise that the design has already been used. So yes, it's the other way round. We do not copy, we come up with the design first, and it is only later that we find out that the design was already in use, for years. These poor guys must've gone through something similar. How else would you justify the hilarious similarity between the two. Hmm? Dolce & Banana?

1. When Liverpool had such a bad season that they became Gurukul instead.

Like most foods, sandwiches can go either way – they can be super-healthy and nutritious, making for an entire balanced meal by themselves, or they can be unhealthy and loaded with calories. If you do them right, you can eat them for just about any meal and even carry them with you to work or when you travel. Here's how you can build the perfect sandwiches, that are both healthy and tasty! 

1. Opt for multi-grain or whole-wheat bread.

You know what they say – the whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead! White bread is made of refined flour that has no nutritional value, and brown bread isn't much healthier, since very often it's just the same refined flour with added colouring. Make your sandwich with either multi-grain or whole-wheat bread, since they are complex carbs that have more fibre.

2. Make your own spread.

Skip the ready-made sandwich spreads that are loaded with sugar, salt, calories and artificial colours and flavours. Make your own spread by hanging some curd and adding salt and herbs. Oregano, chilli, parsley, garlic, coriander, basil – pick whichever ones you like and add them in. Alternatively, you can mash up an avocado and make guacamole or make green chutney and use that instead.

3. Load up on healthy proteins.

Non-vegetarians can choose from egg, chicken, ham, turkey, fish or mutton. Stick to fresh, unprocessed meats, rather than processed ones. 

Vegetarians can opt for hummus, nut butters, paneer or tofu.

4. Add some cheese.

Just because the sandwich is healthy, doesn't mean it has to be boring! Add a slice of cheese if you like, preferably a fresh variety and not a packaged one. Cheese is fattening but it's also rich in calcium, proteins, zinc, phosphorous and Vitamins A and B.

5. Pile on the veggies.

Slice up some veggies and layer them on to the sandwich. You can stick to more traditional ones like tomato, cucumber, onion, potato or lettuce, or you can add unusual ones like radish, corn, mushrooms, sprouts, spinach, beets, capsicum, olives or jalapenos. Contrary to popular belief, veggies are not the extras in the salad; they are the main feature!

6. Toast it, if you like.

Grilling or toasting the sandwich doesn't add any calories, and it can help melt the cheese and bring all the flavours together.
