Putting off things for later will only pile up your responsibilities, and make what is seemingly normal, appear daunting. Here's a list of some important things you've been delaying all this while, but really need to get a move on. 1. Getting your passport You get highly awkward every time someone yells at you for not having a passport. You really are afraid of gathering those "important" documents and standing in an endless queue at the passport office. But here's news - that's the price you pay for going anywhere in the world. So hurry up and apply for it already, because the tiresome process is now online and is quite easy. 2. Saying the three magic words Come on, say it! All that wishing, hoping and dreaming is not going to help, until and unless you say those three words to your special someone. Coming clean about how you feel is great feeling. If your feelings are reciprocated then all's well and good. If they're not, you've got a sign to move on. 3. Getting a medical checkup When was the last time you went for a complete body checkup? Don't remember? Well, that's the point. Ask your doctor and go for a complete medical checkup at the end of the year. Insist on all your family members going for the same as well, because getting checked annually is absolutely necessary for your good health. 4. Joining a gym You're full of excuses to not hit the gym. According to you, either you have no time, or the gym is too far, or you have a weird gym phobia, but the bottom line is that you put it off. Always. But truth be told, you must take out time to lose that extra flab and generally keep fit.  5. Getting your driving license Just like your passport, you've been putting off that driving test for ages. What's the point of your driving skills if you don't have a legal license?  6. Patching up with a friend It's not healthy to harbour ill feelings and dwell on something painful a friend did to you. If they're asking for your forgiveness, give it to them. Let bygones be bygones, and focus on the friendship. Needless to say, learn your lessons from the issue. 7. Going on a vacation That much-delayed vacation is your right and you can't delay it further. If all your savings are done, and you're sitting around waiting for the 'right time', you're never going to find it. Because now is the right time. 8. Filing tax returns Just because you don't understand finance, doesn't mean you keep delaying your tax returns. Keeping it for the last minute, or crossing the deadline will complicate your finances further. Just get it done! 9. Not applying for your dream job Waiting for an opportunity to knock on your door is foolish. If self-doubt, a lack of qualifications and low self-esteem are keeping you away from your passion, work on them. There's no harm in applying. And if you don't make it, just focus on learning why, and give it a shot again.  10. Getting rid of things you don't need Organising the clutter around you clears out unwanted things and makes space for new things. If you're holding on to things that are no longer necessary, you should definitely discard them from your life. 11. Quitting an addiction Quitting an addiction will prove extremely beneficial for you. But if you take the 'not today, tomorrow' approach, it's never going to happen. Start now and get a move! About This Poem   “That Music Always Round Me” was published in the Whispers of Heavenly Death section in Whitman’s last edition of Leaves of Grass (1891-1892).   Walt Whitman was born on May 31, 1819, and is widely considered one of America’s most important poets. He worked as a printer, teacher, and journalist in the New York City area. Whitman composed and updated his seminal work, Leaves of Grass, throughout his entire adult life. He died on March 26, 1892. You may also like: Bollywood Actors Who Show 'Impossible Is Nothing' How to Live Well     'Begin at once to live, and count each separate day as a separate life.' ~Seneca   I'm not a rich man, nor do I fly around the world and drink champagne with famous people in exotic locales, nor do I own a sports car or SUV or a yacht. And yet, I'm very happy.   Much happier than seven years ago when I ate fried foods and sweets all time time and felt unhealthy and overweight, when I watched television and was out of shape, when I shopped a lot and was in debt, when I worked a job that paid fairly well and had no time for myself or my loved ones.   How have I accomplished this? With small tricks. The truth is, you don't need a lot to live well - you just need the right mindset. Here's what I've learned about living well on little:   1. You need very little to be happy. Some simple plant food, modest shelter, a couple changes of clothes, a good book, a notebook, some meaningful work, and some loved ones.   2. Want little, and you are not poor. You can have a lot of money and possessions, but if you always want more, you are poorer than the guy who has little and wants nothing.   3. Focus on the present. Stop worrying about the future and holding onto the past. How much of your day is spent thinking about things other than where you are and what you're doing, physically, at this moment? How often are we living as opposed to stuck thinking about other things? Live now and you live fully.   4. Be happy with what you have and where you are. Too often we want to be somewhere else, doing something else, with other people than whoever we're with right now, getting things other than what we already have. But where we are is great! Who we're with (including just ourselves) is already perfect. What we have is enough. What we're doing already is amazing.   5. Be grateful for the small pleasures in life. Berries, a square of dark chocolate, tea - simple pleasures that are so much better than rich desserts, sugary drinks, fried foods if you learn to enjoy them fully. A good book borrowed from the library, a walk with a loved one in the park, the fine exertion of a short hard workout, the crazy things your child says, the smile of a stranger, walking barefoot on grass, a moment of quiet as the morning wakens and the world still rests. These little pleasures are living well, without needing much.   6. Be driven by joy and not fear. People are driven by the fear of missing out, or the fear of change, or the fear of losing something. These are not good reasons to do things. Instead, do things because they give you or others joy. Let your work be driven not because you need to support a lifestyle and are afraid of changing it, but by the joy of doing something creative, meaningful, valuable.   7. Practice compassion. Compassion for others creates loving, rewarding relationships. Compassion for yourself means forgiving yourself for past mistakes, treating yourself well (including eating well and exercising), loving yourself as you are.   8. Forget about productivity and numbers. They matter not at all. If you are driven to do things to reach certain numbers (goals), you have probably lost sight of what's important. If you are striving to be productive, you are filling your days with things just to be productive, which is a waste of a day. This day is a gift, and shouldn't be crammed with every possible thing - spend time enjoying it and what you're doing. You've got to be really careful with the wheels because of pathetic road conditions that could test the patience of even the most seasoned drivers. But you really deserve a medal if you've driven on the following Indian roads and highways. These are literally multiple highways to hell. 1. Zoji La Pass The blink of an eye could land a vehicle straight down from an altitude of 3,538 meters! Zoji La Pass is one of the country's most dreaded roads as it is frightfully narrow and covered in snow sludge round the season. You'll come across this route while making your way to Leh from Srinagar. The pass is a major link between Ladakh and Kashmir. 2. Neral-Matheran Road This serpentine road will send your heart to your mouth for sure! The road, that goes up to Matheran from Neral, is as smooth as butter. But you cannot speed up due to its narrowness. If you don't want to drive it, there are many share taxis that take tourists in hoards right up to Matheran. 3. National Highway 22 The name 'highway to hell' seems more appropriate for this scary highway than the current unassuming National Highway 22. Touted as one of India's most dangerous highways, the road here makes you cut through a mountain. In the process, death looms over you in the form of cliffs and tunnels all around. National Highway 22 was also featured in the History Channel's "IRT Deadliest Roads" TV series for its poor maintenance and hazardous condition. 4. Chang La Drivers experience breathlessness and nausea while passing through this route. Chang La is covered with snow throughout the year and is guarded by the army due to its proximity to the Chinese border. It is advisable to carry extra warm clothes and a medical kit with you, as the winds and climate can be extremely harsh. 5. Leh-Manali Highway Driving on this route is a massive pain, because the highway is always 'traff**cked' and you move at a snail's pace. When the snow-laden road thaw with frost heaves, several trucks and four-wheelers are said to have suffered irreparable damage.  6. Munnar Road Similar to the Neral-Matheran road, Munnar Road too has twisty turns and high slopes. The sweet aroma of fresh tea leaves will waft through your drive, but you will be disturbed by careless drivers who drive on the smooth pass as if it were a motorbike runway! 7. Three level Zig Zag Road Located in Sikkim, these spiral roads make for the most scenic views. At 11,200 ft above the sea level, this road will give you the best view of the Himalayan crown. The curvy roads will send your head into a tizzy even if you're sitting on the backseat. You need special permits to pass through, as the road is not for the faint-hearted! 8. Khardung La Pass Under the army's close inspection, this pass is covered with hairpin turns that will have the most seasoned drivers fearful. Khardung La Pass gives you an entrance to Nubra Valley and remains closed annually from October to May due to harsh conditions. 9. Kishtwar-Kailash Road In 2013, athlete Mick Fowler and his climbing partner, Paul Ramsden, documented their way through the most dangerous Kishtwar-Kailash road. The one lane path, which traverses through the newly formed J&K district, is so dangerous that it will make your GPS stop working for you. The climb is terrible, and one hasty move could land you on your deathbed.  10. Rajmachi Road The gravelled road situated in the Sahyadris has a hustle-bustle of trekkers and bikers. The way gets slippery during the monsoons, which makes it difficult for riders to ride on it.  11. Kinnaur Road Kinnaur road will astound you with its cliff-hanging drives and dark narrow holes. A tiny mistake, and you will splash into the Baspa river that will take no time to swallow you. The valley road remains closed during heavy snowfall. If you ever get a chance to pass through this way, please be extra careful around the dangerous Taranda dhank which is infamous for claiming lives. 12. Nathu La Pass This pass is said to be the highest motorable road in the world. It is one of the three open trading border posts between China and India and is located 54 km east of Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, and 430 km from Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The road here gets blocked due to massive landslides and snow sludge, making driving a bad experience here. 13. Valparai Tirupati ghat It's not easy to reach the most crowded temple on earth. Tirupati has a ghat which is quite risky and prone to accidents. You have to be extra careful while passing through the twists and turns that are abundant on the road.  14. Gata Loops It's a series of twenty one hairpin bends that you will come across when you're driving on the Leh-Manali driveway. The road is said to be haunted by a ghost of a tourist who was buried here. People offer cigarettes and mineral water on the spot and then carry on with their journey.  15. Pune-Mumbai Expressway Apart from landslides, the Pune-Mumbai expressway has a ton of careless drivers overtaking and zigzagging their way, which causes some serious accidents. There are also cases where drivers have slept behind the wheel, due to fatigue and sleep deprivation. A report reveals that around 14,186 accidents took place on the expressway between January 2006 and August 2014 and 925 people died between January 2006 and June 2013. Further investigations revealed that 60% of accidents happened due to carelessness and human error.
