Call it whatever - a muffin top, extra tire or fat that collects around your waist, all it does is ruin the shape of your perfect dress. The biggest problem with love handles is that they don't go easily; it's quite a stubborn fat. Here are five best foods to shape your waist and bring your midriff back in line.

1. Oat Bran

Most of us know about oatmeal but it is time to upgrade from oatmeal to oat bran. If you like to start your day with a bowl of oatmeal then you certainly need to shift to oat bran which is a whole another level. Oat bran is packed with 18 grams of fibre and 20 grams of protein per cup. If you're wondering what the difference between the two is, Oatbran is made from the outer husk of the oat and contains soluble fibres which also help in reducing the cholesterol while oatmeal is made from the inner portion.

Good to know:  Don't screw it up by mixing brown sugar or syrup on it. Skimmed milk and cinnamon are great substitute.

2. Shredded wheat

To melt your love handles shredded wheat works like a magic. People who are health conscious should look for cereals with the most fibre and the least sugar. Though it is hard to beat shredded wheat with its 9 grams of fibre per serving and zero sugar.

Good to know:  Shredded wheat cereals are the best for people specifically looking to lose fat around their midsection.

3. White tea

White tea is one powerful brew which helps in stimulating the metabolism, it is also a rich source of antioxidants that triggers the release of fat from the cells and helps liver to turn that fat into energy.  

Good to know: Try drinking one cup of white tea after every meal, also avoid drinking at night as white tea contains caffeine and you certainly don't want to stay up all night! 

4. Walnuts

The fats found in walnuts helps in activating the genes that reduce fat storage and improve insulin metabolism. A Pennsylvania State study says that a diet rich in walnuts may help the body react better to stress and can also help keep diastolic blood pressure levels down.

Good to know: Walnuts may help decrease not only the risk of prostate cancer, but breast cancer as well.

5. Dark Chocolate

Hard as it may be to believe, but dark chocolate can actually melt those kilos away. It's like the holy grail of weight loss! Delicious and healthy! Research now shows that eating reasonable amount of dark chocolate can reduce the overall body fat and helps in shrinking the waist.

Good to know: Eating chocolate everyday can help prevent tooth decay and also works as anti bacterial agent.
