Migrane pain can be as painful as an injury. If these unbearable headaches are taking over your life, then maybe it's time to make some changes in your lifestyle. Migraine can be triggered by small little things like noise, dust and even light. It is important for a migraine patient to identify the definite triggers to avoid them before it gets bad.

1. Turn off the lights

Most migraine patients are sensitive to light and sound. It is advisable to make your room dark and quiet before you sleep. Even a small creaking sound can trigger the pain if not taken seriously.

2. Drink a caffeinated beverage

Caffine is the key ingredient in many headache medications. So if your headache has just started then may be a cup of coffee might help you to subside it. But it is advisable to not take more then two to three cups a week. 

3. Regularise your sleep patterns

Migraine is also triggered by poor sleep. It is important especially for migraine patients to regularise their sleep pattern. A migraine patient should wake up and go to sleep at the same time every day even on weekends.

4. Eat wisely

Not eating at all or fasting can actually trigger the pain. Make sure that you eat withing few hours of getting up and not delay it too much. Also make sure that you drink enough water to keep yourself hydrated.

5. Avoid foods that trigger migraine

There are few foods that can actually trigger the headache and should definitely be avoided. Chocolate and alcohol are the main migraine triggers.  

6. Increase intake of supplements

Low level of magnesium has been linked with migraine headaches. A daily supplement of magnesium might help to curb the sudden outburst of migraine pain. But it is always advisable to consult your doctor before taking any such supplement. 

7. Keep your bedroom clutter free

Keep your bedroom strictly for relaxing and sleeping. Don't eat food or watch television in your bedroom because this might hinder your sleep. To cut off the noise in your bedroom you can either use ear plugs or fan to mute the distracting noises.

[Fropki] Artificial Intelligence Could Soon Help Scientists Hunt Down Wildlife Poachers

Wildlife poaching is one of the biggest battles mankind is fighting today. You'd be stunned if you look at the number of wild animals being hunted down for illegal trade. But here's a piece of news that provides a glimmer of hope for the animals out there. A team of computer scientists may have developed a way to curb wildlife poaching with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). 

Financially backed by the National Science Foundation (NSF), a team of computer scientists from the University of Southern California (USC) has developed the "Green Security Games". Sounds cool, right? It is. With the use of mathematical equations, the game theory "predicts the behaviour of adversaries and plans optimal approaches for containment," says the National Science Foundation (NSF). This would allow the national reserve patrol guards and park rangers to patrol the parks and wildlife sanctuaries a lot more effectively and efficiently. 

Fei Fang, a Ph.D. candidate in the computer science department at USC, and researcher of the Green Security Games project says, "In most parks, ranger patrols are poorly planned, reactive rather than pro-active, and habitual. We need to provide actual patrol routes that can be practically followed."

Fang, and the professor of computer science and systems engineering at USC, Milind Tambe, have created an artificial intelligence application called Protection Assistant for Wildlife Sanctuary or PAWS. Developed back in 2013, the last few years were spent testing the functionality of the system in the natural reserves of Uganda and Malaysia. Both these countries, in particular, have been quite badly affected by the poaching menace and were in desperate need for a solution. The Uganda Wildlife Authority admitted that the "killing of elephants for ivory has shot up over the last four years." Malaysia too has seen three of the largest ivory seizures in the last few years. 

According to the scientist duo, PAWS empowers the reserve guards to be more effective with their patrolling without requiring additional manpower. By creating patrol routes for the guards, keeping a check has become a lot more efficient. Along with this, the app also randomises routes to make them unpredictable. 

We list all possible patrol routes and then determine which is the most effective," says Fang. For generally, when the poachers notice the patrols going to an area more often than others, they lay their snares elsewhere. 

PAWS is quite intuitive that way, as it learns from the user experience, altering routes based on past successful efforts if need be. The system also incorporates the routes that experience the most animal traffic, where poachers are more likely to come, and modifies itself accordingly. 

Interestingly, this isn't the first time tech has been involved in catching poachers. The American wildlife law enforcement had also adopted a number of robotic animals to catch poachers red-handed, earlier this year. A number of engineers and conservationists have also been collaborating to develop a conservation drone that could monitor illegal activities from above and send signals to patrol parties. Fang and Tambe admitted that there were some shortcomings of the technology, but say PAWS has already been tried, tested and experienced success in a couple of the world's most badly affected areas. 

Talking to the NSF, Tambe said, "This research is a step in demonstrating that AI can have a really significant positive impact on society, and allow us to assist humanity in solving some of the major challenges we face."

Scientists at USC are also exploring how artificial intelligence could help in curbing other environmental conflicts. Meanwhile, we could not be more excited about this.

13 Indian English Adjectives We Know Too Well But The Rest Of The World Doesn't

1. Convent-educated

A convent is a place where nuns used to live and spread Christianity from. Convent-educated basically means an English-medium Christian school. Don't be surprised if marriage seekers have this on their matrimonial profiles. It's a hidden message to say that they consider themselves highly educated.

2. Wheatish complexion

Not sure what exactly they mean...but men in India prefer women with a lighter complexion more than with a darker skin tone. Yeah, we're closet racists. 'Wheatish' is an adjective used by people who want to say, "Hey I'm not perfect, but nor am I horrendous, I'm just milk chocolate and caramel all over!"

3. Foreign-returned

"Foreign" is an adjective that is sadly used as a prefix noun in this grammar-Nazi-infuriating nation. Examples are foreign born, foreign educated, foreign fashion etc. 

4. Homely

Once again, a recurring adjective on matrimonial profiles used for women who are simple, humble and open to running a household for a dominant male (chauvinist pigs be like yeah!). But what does it really mean? You'll be surprised with what dictionary.com has to say.

5. Single and innocent

Another adjective for the ladies and this one is a no-brainer. Apparently being a virgin gets you bonus points in finding a husband.

6. Himalayan Blunder

The only blunder the Himalayas could make would be to not exist at all. So comparing big mistakes to the might of the Himalayas is just stupid.

7. Effluent

"Myself effluent guy with lots of property in South Delhi." - Creepy guy who messaged my friend.

I have an inkling he means 'affluent', but if he thinks he's effluent, that's cool too. 

8. Matured

Indians compare human development to the intensification of flavours in wine and cheese over time. How artistic! So next time you come across someone who is "immatured", slap them hard and compare them to a chunk of aged Gouda.

9. Pure vegetarian

Is that a vegetarian who eats only organic fruits and vegetables?

10. Oversmart

 As of January 1, 2006 there will be major changes to the affirmations group regarding rules, manners, and ettiquette within the affirmations group!!  POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS TO DE-STRESS was originally set up years ago to give support, love, and friendship to people these days in the highly fast-paced and stressful world that we now live in.  There are always deadlines, obligations, and long &quot;to do lists&quot; of things we each need to accomplish on a daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis to keep ourselves healthy, happy, productive, and to bless our family members and friends and community. 
POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS TO DE-STRESS was also originally set up to teach the &quot;how&#39;s, why&#39;s, where&#39;s, and who&#39;s&quot; of positive affirmations, positive thinking, positive living, and a positive outlook or response to daily life. This group was intended to give out unconditional love and acceptance to everyone -- which I am a firm believer in.  This group also touches on meditation, ways of breathing better (for calmness, peace and good health). Yoga, tai chi, herbal remedies, different forms of spirituality, are also occasionally touched on in the affirmations group. Another big purpose of the affirmations group is to become more stress-free in daily life. In the past, we have touched on ways of dealing with anxiety and insomnia in this group.
POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS TO DE-STRESS was originally intended to teach people how to work on their self-esteem and self-confidence in order to magnify and be the best a person can be, and in being able to live with ourselves and look ourselves in the mirror face to face and to love what we see.  &quot;To thine own self, be true!&quot;   The affirmations group has tried to reach out to individuals and help them become better people and to then spread this message out to others throughout the world. &quot;What you give out, shall come back to you!&quot; 
The affirmations group was never meant to be a counseling service or a place where people could divulge all their deep, dark troubles in their lives here or be a &quot;dumping ground&quot; where one could tell anyone anything here and still get love and support back.  However, in some cases this is exactly what this group has become.  I am a very kind-hearted, loving, genuine person who deeply cares for others. I have been through a lot of &quot;stuff&quot; in my lifetime, and dealt with a lot of troubles myself, which has made me more emphathetic to others and what they are going through.  That is why I have tried so hard to reach out to everyone and lift people up with encouragement, hope and love.  But, it seems that when I have tried to help others, this group tends to become a &quot;dumping ground&quot; where a few people have been helped perhaps, but many others get discouraged by hearing the troubles and difficulties of people over and over. I myself, tend to get down after awhile of this pattern.  I feel that these changes are needed for the affirmations group to grow and blossom and to get back to its original roots and intentions. 
As of January 1st, 2006: if anyone wants to write in an email to the affirmations group to tell us of all the difficulties and troubles in your life, please go elsewhere to do this. Join a different yahoo group or seek out help in the 12-step programs (either in person or through the internet).  There are also groups on the web that deal with anxiety or depression, or chronic illnesses.  Please join those groups to be able to write in and share your woes.  But, please do not do that within the affirmations group. 
POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS TO DE-STRESS is the TOOLBOX that each of us has to learn ways to cope better and de-stress, ways to become more positive in our lives, and how to benefit from using positive affirmations and positive thinking.  This affirmations group is also where you can share your successes and stories of how you were, and how you became better! 
 * Now, I&#39;m not asking every single person to never share that they are having a bad day, or a difficult week -- ALL of us need to vent occasionally. But, if we get on tirades of ONLY sharing the negative and the bad side of life, then we are detouring from our goal.  That is why I am asking to keep the negative talk to a very minimum, ...and to even TRY TO SEE SOME POSITIVE within the negative talk.  Reach out and try to discard the negative way of looking at things, and try to accentuate the positive and uplifting ways of hope and love and encouragement. *
  *** Briefly, new rules are: 1) When sending in a message to the POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS TO DE-STRESS yahoo group, please think over what you want to say before writing it in an email to the group. How will your message affect others, and what are you hoping to accomplish by sending in this email?
2) If you are just having a bad day, or a difficult time, try to think what you can learn from this experience and how you can turn &quot;a venting email&quot; into a positive affirmation or a more positive way of looking at things?
3) If all you want to do is express your disgust or frustration with life, please take that message elsewhere. [I for one, suffer from terrible rheumatoid arthritis pain year round. But, who wants to hear me moan and groan, or whine and complain every day about how bad I might feel?! So, I go elsewhere to express this (most of the time), and instead share more positive messages in the affirmations group. As you can imagine, this has taken some self-discipline and time for me to learn this lesson. I know that I have improved and my belly-aching has lessened in the affirmations group. This is just an example.]
4) Please share positive experiences, or personal stories of victory with the affirmations group! Let us hear how affirmations are helping your thought processes, and in successfully changing your life for the better! We love to hear motivating and inspiring stories! Sometimes, a picture can be worth a thousand words!
5) If any group members forget and write a long diatribe to the group about how unfair life is, or what a crummy time one is having, ...you will be given one warning from the group moderators.
6) If a person does this a second time -- the forgetting and writing a long story or email about their life, ...the person will be put on a moderated status within the group. That means, you can write in a message to the group, but that it will be read by the moderators BEFORE it can be sent out to all the group members. This will take time, and be somewhat frustrating for the individual, as well as for the moderators.
7) Lastly, if the same behavior continues, ...the person will be asked to leave the affirmations group. Then, they will not have the benefit of positive affirmations & stories to listen to or read, and they may even lose a friendship that they may have with another group member. ***
Basically, those are the group rules, and I feel that they are fair. If they need to be revised in the future, all group members will be notified as to the changes.
