"Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first."

Indeed, life is uncertain. And it's important to be prepared for the apocalypse. Let's cut to the chase - one really doesn't need an excuse to eat dessert at any time in the day. So why waste time? Without further ado, here are the best places in the capital to lay your hands on some delectable desserts!

1. Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale - Sita Ram Bazar

If you are a Delhite, you must have a soft corner for traditional kulfis in your heart. Kuremal Mohanlal Kulfiwale is one place in bustling old Delhi where you can find an assortmentof natural fruit flavored kulfis. If you are in Chandni Chowk, YOU HAVE TO STOP BY.

2. Maison Des Desserts - Hauz Khas Village

From an all-day breakfast menu to their exotic French style patisserie options, everything is delicious at the Maison Des Desserts. Try their European style cakes, tarts and other desserts for an English experience, and we assure you, you won't be disappointed.

3. Wengers - Connaught Place

I think I've personally grown up eating literally every confectionery item from Wengers. You will adore their fresh fruit cake if you are in the mood for something simple. The chocolate Frankfurt ring and their tiramisu are other favorites. While you're at it, don't forget to sample their vegetable patties - definitely one of the best in town.

4. Chocolateria San Churro - Greater Kailash I

This one is for those who love churros, combined with great ambiance, a chocolaty aroma and fresh delicious brownies.

5. Elma's Cafe - Hauz Khas Village

Looking for a quick bite at Delhi's happening Hauz Khas Village? Take a break from the swanky lounges and head for this small, exquisite eatery called Elma's Cafe. Known for its perfect combination of tea and delightfully yum desserts, this cafe is not going to disappoint you with its amazing cheesecake, carrot cake, red velvet cake and more.

6. Supreme Bakery - R. K Puram

This might sound like just another bakery in your area, but Supreme Bakery is definitely more than that. It's a delight for pastry lovers as every single item on their menu tastes like heaven on your tongue! The pocket friendly bakery is a good choice if you are heading with a group of friends for a quick treat. Check before you visit as the place is never empty.

7. Sweet Nothings by Avanti Mathur - Shahpur Jat

If you love custom-made cakes and bakes, this place is meant for you. One of the most popular bakeries in the city, Sweet Nothings serves up lip smacking cakes well within your budget. It is always advisable to place your order at least 2 days in advance as they are way too pre-occupied to take urgent orders.

8. The Big Chill Cafe - Multiple Locations

Those who love their chocolate have often fallen in love with the Mississippi Mud Pie served at the Big Chill Cafe. But that's not the only to-die-for dessert here. Do try their banoffee pie and double chocolate decadence if in constant search of delectable desserts.

9. Giani's - Multiple Outlets

Giani's is an exceptionally good ice cream chain that serves the best flavors in town. From ice-creams to sundaes, I can' think of a single dessert I don't care about here. Don't forget to gorge on their halwas in winter!

10. L'Opera - Multiple Outlets

L'Opera at Khan Market is an ideal juncture for afternoon tea with some appetizing snacks and desserts. The place is a living heaven for macaroon lovers. The best part? These guys know how to balance sweetness in their exquisite range of yummy desserts.

11. Whipped - GK-II & Defence Colony

Whether you want a creamy pastry to devour or a thick shake to enjoy with your favorite book, this is the place for you. Small and cozy, their jar cakes make for exceptional surprise gifts for loved ones if you are looking for home delivery options. Do ask for their caramel sauce with desserts - it will blow your mind.

12. Standard Burfee - Karol Bagh

A place as old as I can remember, but the taste is still the same. Their boondi laddu, panjiri, pinni and sooji ka halwa have been popular with many for years. The place is small and is one of the best shops to buy traditional Indian sweets from in Delhi. While they serve amazing ghee-laden traditional sweets, you cannot ignore their chholey poori halwa combo during breakfast hours.
