A diamond of a morning      Waked me an hour too soon; Dawn had taken in the stars      And left the faint white moon.   O white moon, you are lonely,      It is the same with me, But we have the world to roam over,      Only the lonely are free.            This poem is in the public domain. About This Poem   "Morning Song" appeared in Flame and Shadow (The Macmillan Company, 1920).   Sara Teasdale was born in 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is the author of Sonnets to Duse and Other Poems (The Poet Lore Company, 1907), Rivers to the Sea (The Macmillan Company, 1915), and several other poetry collections. She died in 1933.
