Riya Palekar's Bra Pics are Steamy Hot

You'd be surprised by how much blood and guts come on someone's dinner plate than it does from a horror movie! We're no one to judge, but some of the dishes listed here will not go down easy. Pun intended. A word of caution to the wise: do not read this during your lunch hour.

1. Cock's Comb (or Cockscombs)

This 'dish' made of the crest or the red fleshy skin on a rooster's head is relished in Italy and France.

2. Surströmming

Surströmming or rotten fish is a dish where fish are marinated in brine and tinned. This sour herring is a traditional northern Swedish dish. The smell can be pretty off-putting so head to to your backyard before opening a can.

3. Dragon in the Flame of Desire

Dragon in the Flame of Desire is a steamed or fried yak penis on a plate. The Guolizhuang Restaurant in Beijing continues to take many orders for the same.

4. Drunken Shrimp

More like 'stunned' shrimp since that's what the process of marinating shrimp in a strong liquor (baijiu) before consuming it, is called. This one's another popular dish in China.

5. Stargazy Pie

This pie comes from Mousehole, England, and has several fish packed in a pie looking upwards. Hence, the name.

6. Monkey Brains

The name makes matters pretty clear. The texture's said to be a tad squishy. Not for the faint of heart, or stomach. This dish enjoys popularity in China, South Asia and Africa.

7. Hakarl

Hakarl or fermented basking shark meat is enjoyed in Iceland. The process of preparing this meat entails burying the meat in a temporary shallow grave, draining out the body juices (so it's safe to eat eventually), and then hanging the pieces out to dry.

8. Wasp Crackers

Don't let the crackers fool you. At first glance they look like choco-chip cookies. Upon closer inspection, it's clear that these crackers from Omachi, in Japan, come packed with digger wasps known for their vicious sting.

9. Ant Eggs Soup

As the name suggests, larvae of soldier ants fed on mescal plant, are cooked with vegetables and served hot. The texture of this dish, originally from Laos, is likened to that of rice and the taste, a wee bit nutty.

10. Stinkheads

This popular Alaskan food is prepared after the heads of Salmon are buried in what are referred to as 'fermentation pits,' placed in wooden barrels and left to marinate for a few weeks before being consumed.

11. Akutaq

Akutaq or Eskimo ice cream, from Alaska, may sound a little misleading. This ice cream is prepared with snow, berries, fish, seal oil and reindeer fat.

12. Haggis

From Scotland comes Haggis, a dish made from sheep's stomach. The stomach is packed with onions, oatmeal and the sheep's liver, lungs and heart. It's then cooked for three hours and served.

13. Century Egg

In this dish from China, the eggs are kept in saline water over time to achieve a pH level safe for consumption. The salty water is what gives the Century Egg its dark colour.

14. Beondegi

Beondegi is a popular street snack in Korea. This dish is prepared with boiled silkworm larvae, garnished and eaten. These larvae are picked from trees and end up tasting like wood, and that sort of makes sense.

15. Baby mice wine

If the name didn't give it away, baby mice wine, a traditional drink from Korea, is prepared by placing live, three-day old baby mice inside a fermentation bottle. You may want a sip since this one apparently has a lot of health benefits.

16. Fruit bat soup

This African dish can be quite risky since it involves bats, and bats are known to be carriers of many diseases. Here, fruit bats are cooked with vegetables until the texture is thick and broth-like.

17. Fried Tarantula

Some of us wouldn't dare stand in the same room as a tarantula, much less eat one. But if you're up for this challenge, you can sample a bite in Cambodia.

18. Jumiles

Jumiles comes from Mexico and is a ground up, semi-powdery version of a lot of stink bugs. A lot. This dish is best enjoyed with a dip or salsa.

19. Shirako

Shikaro comes from Japan and is a dish straight from the ball/sperm sac of a male fish. Literally.

20. Tong Zi Dan

Tong Zi Dan or 'Virgin boy egg' from China is as strange as it sounds. Here, eggs are boiled in pee from 10-year-old boys, and then served.

21. Cobra Heart

With alleged health benefits of its own, this drink from Vietnam serves a cobra's heart in a mixture of venom, cobra blood and vodka. Yum.

22. Snake wine

Vietnam and China have snake wine in common. The snakes sit in wine and its totally safe to have since the ethanol in wine takes care of any poison. This one comes highly recommended for men.

23. Khash

Served in Middle East, Turkey and East Europe, this dish is prepared with cow feet and best enjoyed with bread and vodka.
